Bahorski, City Manager FROM: Doug Danes, P.E., Director of Public Works / City Engineer SUBJECT: AWARD UNIT PRICE /MAINTENANCE /EMERGENCY SERVICES CONTRACT FOR SEWER LIFT STATION MAINTENANCE SUMMARY OF REQUEST: The proposed City Council action will award a unit price /maintenance /emergency services contract for service with JIMNI Systems, Inc. and authorize the City Manager to execute the contract. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department is in the process of formalizing all its contract operations so it has contractors on contract with negotiated unit prices ready to work should an emergency event happen or if additional work is necessary that cannot be performed by City forces. The purpose of this contract is to retain the firm of JIMNI Systems, Inc. for both operators and equipment to perform sewer lift station maintenance. Maintenance and emergency service contracts allow the City to have access to a wide array of equipment and personnel without allocating the resources such as purchasing high cost equipment that will be underutilized. There are numerous regulatory requirements that are in effect or on the horizon that will increase the need for additional resources to be available such as the draft NPDES permit, the wastewater discharge requirements of the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board, and the proposed Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance regulations CMOM, from the United States Environmental Protection Agency. F ISCAL IMPACT: None at this time. Work would only be authorized if it is within a budget or needs to be repaired because of an emergency situation. Agenda Item L RECOMMENDATION: Upon motion of the consent calendar, it is recommended that the City Council award the unit price /maintenance /emergency services contract for sewer lift station maintenance to JIMNI S s, • .. and . - .
