The meeting was called to order with the Salute to the Flag. ROLL CALL I Present: Mayor Anderson Councilmembers Dreis, Fuhrman, Gummere, Hamilton Absent: None The City Clerk read the call for special meeting as follows: Seal Beach, California April 10, 1970 Stanley G. Anderson, 501 Ocean Ave., Seal Beach, Calif. Veda M..Dreis, 13680 El,Dorado Dr., 33F, Seal Beach, Calif. Conway J. Fuhrman, 132 Harvard Lane, Seal Beach, Calif. Lloyd E. Gummere, 13681 St. Andrews Dr.,2E, Seal Beach, Calif. John B. Hamilton, 1712 Harbor Way, Seal Beach, Calif. 9 YOU AND EACH OFI.~9U, ,will,_please take notice that Stanley G. Anderson as presiding officer of the legislative body I of the. City o~ S~?l B~~qh, hereby calls and gives notice of a Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Seal Beach to be held and convened at the hour of 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, 1970, in the Council Chamber, 211 8th Street, Seal Beach, California, to transact the following business: r. For the purpose of recountm~gt~he ballots.cast in District Number Three at the primary nominating election held on March 31, 1970. 2. For ~e purpose of transacting such further business as may be r~quired by law in connection with said recount. DATED THIS 10TH DAY OF APRIL, 1970 (Signed) 1 Stanley ~a,And~rsqn Mayor of the City of Seal Beach Attest: (Signed) Jerdys Weir City Clerk of the City of Seal Beach 4-10-70 ,1:13 I The City Attorney ruled that pursuant to Section 229~0 of the Elections code the Council could appoint a special recounting board, and, if such board were appointed the candidate requesting said recount would deposit the sum of one day's compensation with the City Clerk prior to recount. Fuhrman moved, second by Hamilton, to appoint a special recounting board. AYES: NOES: Anderson, Dreis, Fuhrman, Gummere, Hamilton None Motion carried. 1 The City Clerk indicated to Council that the inspector from each precinct of District Three were present in the audience and would be qualified for such a board. Hamilton moved, second by Fuhrman, to appoint the following members as the special recounting board: Marge Ordway, 327 15th Street, Seal Beach Twyla Karkut, 509 Laguna Place, Seal Beach Klara Payne, 910 Driftwood, 'Seal Bea'ch ;,' , June Ramsey, 1001 MarVista, Seal' Beach' '. ">' Anderson, Dreis, Fuhrman'; '. Gummere, Hamilton None Motion carried. AYES: NOES: I Mr. Knapp deposited a check for one day's compensation, $72.00, with the City Clerk. Gummere moved, second by Hamilton, to direct the City Clerk to proceed with the recount. AYES: Anderson, ,Dreis,<Fuhrman, Gummere, Hamilton NOES: None Motion carried. The Mayor recessed the meeting for the period of the recount. The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:'00 p.m. The City Clerk declared that the recount was completed and that the results were the same with the exception of Precinct 5, Mr. Baum received 105 votes and Mr. Knapp received 96 'votes. The total number of votes cast remained 'the same. ': , 4-10-70/ 4-11-70/ 4-15-70 1;14' RESOLUTION NUMBER 1847 - AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 1844 The City Attorney presented Resolution Number 1847 by title, "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NUMBER 1844' RECITING THE FACTS OF THE PRIMARY NOMINATING ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE 31ST DAY OF MARCH, 1970, DECLARING THE RESULTS THEREOF, AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS ARE PROVIDED BY LAW." -I Fuhrman moved, second by Dreis, to adppt Resoiliution Number 1847. AYES: Anderso~, Dreis, Fuhrman, Gummere, Hamilton NOES: None Motion carried. ADJOURNMENT Fuhrman moved, second by Gummere, to adjourn at 7:05 p.m. , AYES: Anderson, Dreis, Fuhrman, Gummere, Hamilton NOES: ' None Motion carried.
