HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Min 1966-02-07 I I I 11 Seal Beach, Californ~a February 7, 1966. The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:00 p.m. with Mayor Nescher presiding. The meeting was called to -' order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Nescher Councilman: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere Absent: " " None It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Steddom to approve the minutes of January 24th and February AYES: Anderson, Gemmill, NOES: None 2, 1966 as presented. Steddom, Gummere Motion carried. Regular demands No. 9120 to 9230, inclusive, $35,864.38 and payroll demands No. 6084 to 6193 inclusive, $21,695.13, totaling $57,559.51 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Gummere and seconded by Anderson that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasurer for the same. AYES: NCES: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere, Nescher None Motion carried. The Mayor declared February 20 to 27, 1966 as Brotherhood Week. n The Mayor declared the month of March, 1966 as Easter Seal Appeal Month. It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Anderson to instruct the City Attorney and City Manager to prepare a resolution supporting the Water waterdevelopment bond issue of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to be voted on in June, 1966. AYES: NOES: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere, Nescher None Motion carried. A letter from Mr. and Mrs. Longley commenting on the beach and com- munity cleanliness was received and filed. The City Manager to <_ acknowledge. It was announced that Mr. Gemmill would attend the February meeting .. SCAG of SCAG and that Mr. Anderson the meeting of TASC. Ordinance No. 678 (Uniform Building Code-Amending) was presented by Ord. .' , title by the City Attorney. It was moved by Anderson and seconded 678 by Steddom to waive the second reading of Ordinance No. 678, that it be deemed as having had its second reading and be passed for adoption. AYES: ABSTAIN: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere Nescher Motion carried. It was moved by Gummere and seconded by Gemmill to adopt Resolution No. 1417. AYES: NOES: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere, Nescher None Motion carried. It was moved by Steddom and seconded by Anderson to approve Plan- ning Commission Resolution No. 56 (Varience-Christian Science Society) as presented. Bids opened February 4, 1966 at 2:00 p.m. for Off-site Water Trans- I mission Facility, Phase 2, Tract 5699 were as follows; Hood Corporation $ 85,586.69 L. Castillo & Son 99,676.90 Industrial Pipeline Const. Co.74,882.30 Barrow & Eckhart Eng. Cont. 78,442.21 Longley Const. Co. Inc. 76,845.18 Ledford Brothers 88,080.~8 It was moved by Gummere and seconded by Anderson that the City Coun- cil accept the bid of Industrial Pipeline Construction Company at $74,882.30 to reject all other bids and to award the contract, subject to the approval of the developer. AYES: NOES: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere, Nescher None Motion carried. It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Anderson that Harry A. Steddom be appointed director of the Orange County Mosquito Abate- I ment District to fill out the unexpired term of Dean Gemmill who is unable to attend the monthly sessions. AYES: NOES: Anderson, Gemmill, Steddom, Gummere, Nescher None Motion carried. The Mayor declared a recess at 8:30 p.m. to Council-City Attorney executive session. The meeting reconvened at 9:40 p.m. A city map and brochure was discussed. The City Manager reported that such a map was in preparation. It was moved by Gummere and seconded by Anderson that the city present a proper plaque to the Chamber of Commerce for the assist- " ance during the 50th Anniversary Celebration.
