The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session
at 8:00 p.m. with Mayor Nescher presiding. The meeting was called
to order"with the Pledge of Allegiance.

It was moved by Steddom and seconded by Gummere to approve the
minutes of March 21, 1966 as presented.

volley ball nets on the beach in that area was discussed. It
was decided to move the nets farther seaward.

request of the Seal Beach Lions Club for cooperation in the

Letter from R. E. Dolley Lodge announcing the dedication of the
Golden west Junior College on April 30, 1966 was received and

public relations counsel waS deferred to budget sessions.
The City Attorney announced that this was the time and place for
a public hearing on weed.abatement. There,being no protests,

A-GO-GO, 800 Pacific Coast Highway from the decision of the City
Manager in denying an entertainment cafe license.
Mr. Samuel Salman, Attorney representing Larry R. Smith outlined
new operations proposed to be put~into effect to overcome all
problems of the past.
The City Manager, City Attorney and Chief of Police presented
arguments opposing the issuance of a license.
Mrs. Violet McFarland, owner of the property spoke in favor of
the license.
The City Attorney stated that the alternatives that the Council

has are; to issue the license, grant the appeal and instruct the

City Manager to issue the license subject to certain conditions,

or deny the appeal and uphold the City Manager's decision.
