Mr. Anderson stressed the point that there were too many service stations in the city now and he questioned the wisdom of zoning property for an additional service station. Mayor Gummere outlined his position of being in favor of the project, noting that the Planning Commission had approved the precise plans and conditions, the City Manager had stated the project was not contrary to the General Plan, notification had been given as required by law and in addition these adjacent property owners had been notified by mail of the Council's hearing. Mr. Dreis noted that he basically concurred in Mayor Gummere's statements. Mr. Hamilton stated that he was in favor of returning the subject matter to the Planning Commission because of the lack of notification by mail to adjacent property '" owners of the Commission's public hearing and that there were very few at the Commission's meeting that were interested in a project of maj.or importance to the City.
