It was.moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the contract w~th Seal Beach Disposal Company be amended to permit Garbage then to contract with the Leisure World for garbage and trash Leisure collection. After further discussion Mr. Leonard'withdrew his motion. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the City Council grant permission to the Seal Beach Disposal Company to enter into a contract with the Leisure World for the co~lection of garbage and trash. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. The invocation was given by R.~. Louis Pick, St. Anne's I Church. Present: Mayor Gibbs Councilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Gemmill n II None This being the time and place for a public hearing on Assessment District No. 1 - Northeast Street Improvement.District, the following objections were read; St. Improvl Dist. Leonard Olsen Westways Petroleum Co. No. 135 and 136 No. 47 3'6 Weed Abate. SB Kids Baseball i:.ions ~ 'Ian. , ~. Elizabeth M. Shea Orlyn B. Stevens Fay Justus Dorothy Sutton No. 77 No. 196 226 14th Street No. 111 Mr. Crosby of the City Engine~rs office answered each objection as to assessed valuation and work done. The Mayor declared the hearing closed. This is the time and place for a public hearing on weed abatement. Mrs. Evans of. 221 8th Street stated the weeds on her lot would be taken care of. There being no further protests or objections either written or oral the Mayor declared the hearing I closed. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Leonard to approve the minutes of April 2nd and 11th 1962 as presented. AYES: NOES: F.1anagan, Jones, Leonard, Gemmill, Gibbs None Motion carried. Regular demands No. 1523 to 1604 in~lusive and payroll demands No. 6011 to 61$0 inc1u~ive totaling $2~,023.59 as approved by the Finapce Committee were presented. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Leonard that the demands be allowed and warrants' drawn on the Treasury for the same. The City Manager to send letter of appreciation. It wa~ moved by Gemmill, and seconded by Jones to give to the Seal Beach Ki~s Baseball. Association two surplus sheds for value received. Baker, Lot 213, Tract 1817 was received and ~i1ed. It was moved by Ge~ll and seconded by Leonard that the Seal Beach Play Group be granted additional hours in the Youth 1 37' Center. as requested. Request of the Orange County Republican Woman's Club to use the City park on May 23rd for the appearance of Allemblyman Joseph Shell was granted. Invitation of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to attend their annual installation was received and filed. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Leonard to receive and file the reports of the License, Building, Water, Accounting Departments and the City Treasurer for the month of March 1962. Mr. Leonard Olsen stated that he thought his lots were unequally assessed as compared to'adjacent lots and asked for the help of the city. The Clerk was instructed to write the County Assessor for a compariston. Mrs. Mendoza, Seal Beach Music Company requested more brash containers in her area. Referred to the City Manager. Mr. Keller asked about weed abatement on the Hellman prop- erty. This is a part of the general weed abatement program. Mr. Melton Ward said there were several discrepancies in the Streets and alleys in.the Assessment District. Referred to the City Manager. Mr. Jack Klempner's request about weed abatement next to his property was referred to the qity Manager. It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Jones to authorize the Mayor to -ex.ecute an agreement with Mr. John P.
