The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular adjourned session at 8:00 p.m. with Mayor Gemmill presiding. The . meeting was called to order with the Pledge or Allegiance. Referred to the City Manager for analysis and report at the June 3rd. meeting. . The Mayor announced that this was the time and place for a pUblic hearing on a proposed new zoning ordinance. There being no objections, either written or oral, it was moved by Anderson and seconded by Nescher that the hearing be declared closed. The City Engineer reported that on the Seal Way Improvement, St. Plans # 1 and #2, that only 19.4 per cent favored the 10 foot sidewalk Dept and that only 34.8 per cent f~vored'the second plan. Both proposals short ot required signatures. The petitions were referred to the City Manager to return for additional signatures. It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Anderson that a dead line of July 1, 1963 be set for receipt of additional signatures. I AYES: NOES: Nescher, Anderson. There being no written or oral objections tothe abatement of weeds in the city. it was moved ,by Leonard aad seconded by Gemmill to declare the hearing closed, and that the Department of Public Works be instructed to proceed with the abatement program. In the matter of the false arrest case-against Officer Conrad Feierbend. it was moved by Anderson and seconded by Gemmill that the City Attorney be appointed to defend and report on status of Police Officers Insurance Company to furnish defense at the June 3rd meeting. Jim Jackson reported that the voter registration in the Char City was 4896 in January 1963, and that there are now 5500 residents, ' .
