Mrs. Jean Shaffer stated that the summer school recreation
program at the McGaugh School calls for a need for crossing guards.
The Mayor urged those wishing to attend the California
League of Cities Convention in San Francisco in October to make
immediate reservations.
It.was moved by Nescher and seconded by Griswold to autho-
rize the" City Manager to advertise for bids for parking gates at the
First Street and Tenth Street parking lots.

to approve the districts as presented.

Parking problems on 10th and 8th Streets from Ocean Avenue
to Central Avenue were discussed with no definite action taken.
The Mayor commended the City Clerk for his record of ten
years without missing a council meeting.

Nescher moved the nominations be closed. Mr. Leonard nominated Mr.
Griswold for Mayor Protem. Mr. Griswold nominated Mr. Leonard for
Mayor Pro-tem. Mr. Anderson nominated Mr. Nescher for Mayor Pro-tem.
All nominations were withdrawn. It was moved by Anderson and secondd
by Griswold that the Mayor be given a vote of confidence.
