California January 14. 1964 The City Council of the eity of Seal Beach met in adjourned session at 8:00 p.m. with Mayor Gemmill presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Gemmill Councilmen: Nescher, Anderson. Leonard. Griswold Absent: " " None This being the time and place. the City Council canvassed the vote of the Special Municipal Election of January 7. 1964. , Resolution No. 1273 (Election - January 7, 1964 - Results) was presented by the City Clerk. It was moved by Griswold and seconded by Nescher to adopt Resolution No. 1273. Reso. 1273_ AYES: NOES: Nescher. Anderson, Leonard. Griswold, Gemmill None Motion carried. California ,I January 14, 1964 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular adjo~rned session at 8:30 p.m. with Mayor Gemmill presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledg~ of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Gemmill. Councilmen: Nescher, Anderson. Leonard. Griswold Absent: II. None " The Mayor proclaimed February 16th to 23rd.,"Brotherhood Week" . The Mayor proclaimed the month of Janaury 1964 "Register to Vote Month". Bids for two fire stations opened at 2,;00 p.m., January , 13. 1964 were as follows: I 1. Kast Construction Co. 2. James J. Barrett 3. Harold W. Wright 4. James W. Brown 5. Surf Construction Co. $47.000 37.655 40.987 38,700 36,789 It was moved by Griswold and seconded by Leonard to award the bid to Surf Construction Co.. at $36,789 as the best responsible bidder and that all other bids be rejected. AYES: NOES: Nescher. Anderson. Leonard, Griswold. Gemmill None Motion carried. It was moved by Nescher and seconded by Anderson that the City Engineer be authorized to advertise for bids for water trans- mission lines along Nestminster Blvd. from Springdale to Bay Blvd. AYES: NOES: Nescher. The City Manager gave his report of a statement supposedly made by Ray Boeger, Chairman of the Planning Commission. at a meet- ing held November 18, 1963 regarding the Golden Rain Foundation. Ordinance No. 637 (Parking - 72 hours) was presented by Ord . title by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonapd.and seconded by Nescher to waive the first reading of Ordinance No. 638, that it be deemed a~ having had its first reading and be passed to the second reading. AYES: Nescher. Anderson. Leonard. Griswold. Gemmill NOES: None Ord 638 Motion carried. Ordinance No. 639 (Planning Commission Compensation) was presented by title by the City Attorney. It was moved by Griswold and seconded by Leonard to waive the first reading of Ordinance No. 639, that it be deemed as having had its first reading and be passed to the second reading. Mitchell of false arrest, it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Gemmill to authorize the City Attorney to .represent the City in the case. if the City is not covered by our liability policy. and second to represent the officers, is not represented by the California Peace Officers Associa- tion without the City accepting any liability against the Garza brothers. Mr. Leonard was excused at 10:15 p.m. . Resolution No. 1274 (Limited Parking) was presented by the City Manager. It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Griswold to adopt Resolution No. 1274.
