The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Anderson Councilmen: Gemmill.. Griswold, Gummere Absent: II n Nescher It was moved by Gemmill and seoonded by Gummere to approve . the minutes of June 21, 1965, as presented. I AYES: ABSENT: Gemmill, Griswold, Gummere, Anderson Nescher Motion carried. It was moved by Griswold and seconded by Gemmill to authorize the City Manager and Director of Public Works to advertise , . for bids for the improvement of Bay Boulevard, from Westminster Boulevardt north to 1500 feet south of Garden Grove Freeway. AYES: ABSENT: Gemmill, Griswold, Gummere, Anderson Nescher Motion carried. Mayor Anderson announced that this was the time for a hearing on the 1905-66 budget. Discussion followed. Mr. Nescher arrived at 6:50 p.m. The Mayor called a five minute reoess. The meeting reconvened at 8:10 p.m. Mr. ~erry Delaney of l7th Street inquired about certain items in the City Manager's and Fire Department budget. The City Manager introduced Mr. Lee Case, newly appointed Chief of Police, effective July 12, 1905. Mrs. Case was also intro- I duced. .' The Polioe Department was discussed at length. The Meeting reconvened at 10:05 p.m. It was moved by Gemm1l~,and, seconded-by Nescher to defer further discussion of the budget until the.next, regular meeting. Budget . Lloyd Gummere was proclaimed Mayor pro-tem, effeotive July 1, 1965. Mayor-elect Griswold expressed his appreciation to the Council for election and stated that he hoped he could equal the record of his predecessor. Mayor Anderson thanked the, Council and staff for the support , they had given him during his te~ of office. Mayor Pro-tem Gummere elect also expressed his thanks to the. Council for their confidence in electing him to office. It was moved by Gemmill and ~eoonded by Nescher to adjourn at 10*55 p.m. AYES: ABSENT: .1 .
