The Public Works Department,reports for the months of May and June 1965 were received and tiled. Mr. Nescher gave a brief report on the recent meeting of the West Orange County Water Board. The City Coun~il of the City of Seal Beach met in regu- lar session at 8:00 p.m. with Mayor Griswold presiding. Th~ meeting was called to order with ,the Pledge of AllegIance. Present: Mayor Griswold Councilmen: Nescher, Anderson, Gummere Absent: " " Gemmill It was moved by Anderson and seconded by Nescher to excuse . Councilman Gemmill. AYES: ABSENT: Nescher, Andereon, Gummere, Griswold Gemmill . Motion carried. The Mayor stated that this was the time for an a~peal hearing on ?lanning Commission action; denial of request tor reduction of rear yard set back from the required 10 feet to 6 feet; Harvey Webb, 701 Taper Drive. Speaking in favor of the, appeal were Mrs. Moore, 701 Taper Drive, Mrs. Betz, 644 Taper Drive, Miss Campbell, 705 Taper Drive, Mrs. Nelle, 633 Taper Drive and David Copp" 1300 Catalina A~enue. Mr. Webb addressed the Council in his behalf. There being no objections, either written or or~l, Plan Comm 374' 50th , Annive. Metro. Water Ord. 622 ~CAG the Mayor declared the hearing closed. It was moved by Anderson and seconded by ~escher to grant the appeal on the variance and to refer the councils I decision to the Planning Commission. A special Grand Sweepstakes award was p~esented to Sta~ley Anderson and Eddie kllen for representing the city in the July 4th parade at Huntington Beach. A resolution from the California State Assembly commending the City on it1s 50th Anniversary was 'also presented. ~t was moved by Nescher and seconded by Gummere to approve the minutes of August 2, 1965 as presented. Regular demands No. 8134 to 8247 inclusive, $86,8?5.69 and payroll demands No. 4929 to 5037 inclusive, $29,142.32, totaling $116,038.01 were presented. It was moved by Nescher and seconded by Anderson that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for' the same with the exception of demand No. 8182 for $2512.12. I AYES: Nescher. It was moved by Nescher and seconded by Gummere to approve the request of Metropolitan Water District ~or support of the Lower Colorado River Basin Project Act. It was moved by Nescher and seconded by Anderson that a letter from Ball~ Hunt and Hart reques~ing reconsideration of amend- ing Ordinance No. 622 be referred to the City Manager for further study and report as soon as possible. Letter trom the Marina Palace regarding the city's methods Marins and policies regulating the activities of young people who visit our Palace city was reoeived and filed. Dr. Sutter Kunkel questioned the Council in regard to the Plan granting ot the Webb variance. The City Manager summarized the findings ot the majority of the Council. Ordinanoe No. 666 (Food Handling) was presented by title by the City Attorney. It was moved by Anderson and seconded by NesGher to waive the seGond reading ot OrdinanGe No. 666, that it be deemed as having had its second reading and be passed tor adoption. It was moved by Nescher and seconded Resc by Anderson to adopt Resolution No. 1393 after changing the rate ot the License Collector trom $224 to $250 per month. AYES: ABSENT: Nescher, Anderson, Gummere, Griswold Gemmill Motion carried. Resolution No. 1394 (Orange" County Economic Development Conferenoe) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Gummere and seconded by Anderson to adopt Resolution No. 1394. AYES: . It was moved by GUMmere and seconded by Griswold to accept the bid of Nadar Company at $ll8,480 in behlaf of the City for the community swimming pool and to modify our agreement with the School District.
