The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. ,Present: Mayor Calvo Councilmen: Tancre, Hoss, Flanagan, Spencer Absent: " None " The minutes of the regular meeting of February 19, 1957 were read and approved on the Mayor1s motion. Reports of the Police, Building, License, Water and Tax Departments. for the month of February 1957 were presented. It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City Officers reports. " AYES: NOES: Tancre, Ross, Flanagan. Spencer, Calvo None Motion carried. Demands numbering 5140 t; 5237 inclusi~e, totaling $11,308.49 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. . It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Ross that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES: NOES: Tancre, Ross. Flanagan. Spencer, Calvo None . Motion carried. Resolution No. 952 (A~proving Master Plan of Arterial Highways. Orange County) was presented by title by the City . I Attorney. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Spencer to waive the reading of Resolution No. 952. Reso. , 952 AYES : NOES: Tancre, Ross. Flanagan, Spencer, Calvo None Motion carried. It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Tancre that the request of Lennox Disposal Service for a change of name of the' company, as it refers to the local garbage and trash con- . tract be approved and referred to the City Attorney. Mr. Louis Arvitt, Chairman of the merchants committee for Christmas Lighting addressed the Council and presented the trophy to the City, donated by the Orange County Coast Association for second place in the annual competition for cities of our size. The Mayor thanked Mr. Avritt on behalf of the City and City Council. A short discussion was held with no action taken on a proposal to change the name of the City. Mr. Ross and Mr. Flanagan reported meeting with officials of the Greyhound Lines regarding a change in routing through the City. The only alternate route would be to use,Coast Highway exclusive~which it is felt would be inconvenient to the general public. The company will submit a report of passenger traffic and freight and luggage carried within two weeks. The plan was approved in form, but items of insurance needed clarifica- tion which will be discussed at the next meeting of the Executive Committee of the Orange. County League of Cities, to be held March 14th, 1957. I.. Methods of disseminating news to the general public of actions taken by the City Council were discussed. Mr. Trygg to investigate and report. Engineers Agenda Personnel- Sick leave-John Demarest. Additional leave without pay may be granted a~ter present sick leave and vacation time used. . The request of the Police Chief for appointing a temporary patrolman was referred to the Police Committee. Report - Fire Chief. Fire at Hancock Oil rig. Copying Machine - Request for purchase of a Ther-Mo- f~X Copying machine (desk model) at $309.00 plus tax. gran~ed.
