The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Calvo Councilmen: Tancre, Ross, Spencer Absent: It I' Flanagan In the absence of Mr. Flanagan. Mayor Calvo appointed Mr. Tancre to serve on the Finance,Co~~ittee. Mayor Calvo announced that this was the date, time and place as advertised to hear protests in regard to. weed abate- "ment. There being no protests either oral or written, ltesolution -No. 954 (Weed Abatement) was presented by the City Attorney. It: was moved-by Ross and seconded by Spencer to adopt Resolution No.' 954. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spencer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. The minutes of the regular meeting of March 5, 1957 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of February, 1957 were presented. It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City Officers reports. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spencer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. Demands numbering 5238 to 5296 inclusive, totaling $10,739.33 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by noss and seconded by Spencer that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spencer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. Mr. W. A. French, Superintendent, Pacific Greyhound Lines, addressed the Council relative to rerouting of the line through the City. He outlined average passenger traffic, freight and mail hauled as it applied to this City. A~ter some discuss- ion it was moved by Ross and seconded by Spencer that within thirty days the route through the City be changed to Pacific Coast Highway, and that a suitable passenger stop and manually I. I I, I oper~ted signals be installed at Main street when possible to do so. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spencer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. Mr. John R. Mays of Gardena presented in writing with check for $200.00 enclosed, a req~est for license of "automobiles I for hire" to be known as Seal Beach Limousine. Mr. Mays was present and stated that his cars would be available for service to airports, sightseeing, etc. It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Ross that a license be issued if and when Mr. Mays established a fixed place of business and furnished the City the o l'o o ct <t :1: proper ev~dence of bond and insurance coverage. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: T~ncre, Ross, Spencer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. Letter of A. C. Lescher and C. M. Stockon for an ex- I tended lease of the pier, was discussed with Mr. Stockon. It was dec1ded to withhold action on the proposal until Mr. Flana- gan returned, and to adjourn this meeting until Tuesday, March 26th for that purpose. Mr. Buck was excused at 8120 P.M. Mr. Don Pinnex of Orange County Enterprises presented a sample chair for use in the Council Chambers, with prices. etc. This matter to be taken under study. Copy of minute order of Board of Supervisors in regard to our Resolution No. 952 (Highways) was received and filed. Letter from Senator John Murdy relative to AB 2624 was received and filed. Letter from Assemblyman Bruce Sumner relative to mB 2624 was received and filed.
