A),ttest: /~~~ C ty C er o 1" o oot ~ :J: Setal Beach" California April 9, 1957 1 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Calvo 'presiding. The meteting was called to order with the Pledget of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Calvo Councilmen: Tancre, Ross, ,Flanagan, Spencer Absent: II II None The letter from Lescher and Stockon relative to a new pier lease was again read by the Clerk. After considerable dis- cussion by members of the CounciL, the City Attorney and Mr. Stockan it was moved by Ross and seconded by Tancre that the city re-negotiate the present pier lease to provide as follows:' 1. The term of the lease shall be amended to be a Pier one year lease, with option on behalf of the lessee to renew said lease from year to year upon the same terms and conditions for a 'maxiMum period of' five years;, I 2. The rental fee shall be the amount set forth in the letter of March 18, 1957 addressed to the City,CounciL from the Seal Beach Sport Fishing. Fleet; 3. Prior to the expiration of the lease term of one year. the lessee must n~tify the City, not less than thirty days prior thereto, whether or not the lessee desires to excercise the renewa~ option granted to him. 4. That the lessee shall install, at his own expense, 24 bumper pilings, it being estimated that nine bumper pilings be installed, such piling work to be completed by December 31, 1957, and if not completed by that date, the lease shall be considered cancelled and lessee will receive no compensation for the expense for providing and installing the pilings re- quired.;. 5. That it is the declared intention of the city Council. that at the expiration of the renegotiated lease. the pier lease shall be submitted to open competitive bidding I but the re-negotiated lease is to provide that at the end of the lease term, lessee shall have the option to enter into a lease with the City in accordance with the bidding provisions, if they shall meet the terms of the highest bid offered to the City, insofar as the same may be legally accepted. Compensation Insurance. The matter to be discussed further at the next meeting. Mr. Buck read the terms and conditions of the School I School length.
