The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 p.m. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

In the absence of Mr. Flanagan, the Mayor appointed
Mr. Spencer to serve on the Finance Committee.
The minutes of the regular meeting or June 18th and
the Special Meeting of June 29. 1957 were read and approved on
the Mayor'S motion.
The City Attorney arrived at 7:50 p.m.
Reports of the Police. Building, License. Water and
Tax Departments for the month of June, 1957 were presented. It
was moved by Ross and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the
City Officers reports.

Demands numbering 5817 to 5928 incl~sive, totaling
$17,622.59 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.

Lescher and stockon, pier lessees appeared before
the Council to inquire as to Sections 4 and 26, of ~he recently
rewritten pier lease. It was moved by Ross and seconded by
Tancre to amend Sec. 26, that the lessees repair the paved
portion of the pier surface by seal coating as required by
the City ~ngineer.

The City Engineer is to advise the pier lessees
the extent of piling armour necessary under their lease.
Request of John Nescher, John'S Food King Market,
to block off Central Avenue, from Main to alley east, from
7:00 A.M. to 12 Noon. July 9th for the ~Star Shopper' T. V. Show
was granted.
Street lighting in the new subdivision was dis-
cussed and tabled for further information from the City Engineer.
City Engineers' Agenda
1.. Personnel - Upon',the recommendation of the
Director of Public Ser-vice, it was moved by Ross and seconded
by Tancre to appoint Wm. Gergin to Maintenance Man Grade #1,
Step B, effective as of July 1, 1957.

2. Cox Brothers - Request to replace curb on Bay
Blvd. 375 feet north of Navy gate with asphalt ramp for access
to the Navy Depot, and for ,water supply was referred to the
City Engineer to work out an agreement.
3. R~gional Water Pollution ~ontrol Board - The
City Engineer was directed to represent the City at the s'cheduled
public hearing and to request that the San Gabriel River be kept
open for effluent discharge.
4. S.B. 2208, Grade Separation Costs - City to
s~pport such legislation.
5. Report on Subdivision- Tree planting and
10l Highway improvements were discussed with no definite action
