The City Council of the City or Seal Beach met in
regular, session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayo~ Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the regular meeting pf July 2, 1957
were read and approved on the Mayor's motion.
Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the
month of June, 1957 were presented. It was moved by Spencer
and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City Of ricers
reports.

Demands numbering 5929 to 6000 inclusive, totaling
$17,403.39 as approved by the Finance Co~mittee were presented.
It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Ross that the demands
be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same.

Incinerators) was presented by title by the City Attorney.
It was moved by Ross and seocnded by Tancre to waive the sec-

was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Ross and
seconded by Spencer to adopt Resolution No. 959, and to auth-
orize and direct the Mayor and City Clerk to execute the agree-

Letter from the Seal Beach Fire Department of the re-
election of W. S. Knighton, Fire Chief, was approved.
Letter from D. M. Callis, Chairman, Marine and Shore-
line Advisory Committee, relative to cooperation and agreement
on problems relating to the Marina between the City of Long
Beach and this City. The Clerk was instructed to write to
all Long Beach Agencies concerned. stating the importance of
agreement between the two cities and cooperation with the
Marine'and Shoreline Advisory Committee and to so advise Mr.
Callis.

Mr. Bell of the Orange County Flood Control District
and Mr. A. M. Fickes of Boyle.Engineer Company addressed the
Council to explain the Los Alamitos Channel C-l, Flood Control
Plan and its relation and location as it,concerns this City.
After discussing the plan, it was moved by Flanagan and seconded

by Tancre to approve the plans and forward certified copies of
these minutes to the Board of Supervisors.

from Arthur Berke and R. W. Reeves were received and accepted
with regrets. The Clerk was instructed to so advise these mem-
bers. '

Letter from Willard Hanzlik relative to the expira-
tion of his term as Civil SeI'vics. Commissioner was acknowledged.

Beach relative to the Agreement for Mutual Aid Fire Protection
was Deferred to the City Engineer.

Mr. Ross stated that the agreement with the local
Chambe~ of Commerce had not as yet been presented and sug-
gested that the City Attorney prepare the agreement.
Mr. Ross also stated that the condition of the street
parkWays were unsightly and needed attention. City Engineer
and street Department to remedy.
Mr. Ross also stated that salary adjustments in par-
ticular cases needed attention. rteferred to the City Engineer to
review and report.
Mr. Buck repoI'ted that arrange men ts for ingress to
the easement for oil drilling were near completion and expected

1. Personnel - Recommended appointment of K. E. Penkoff
as Maintenance Man Grade # 1, step B, to fill vacancy. It was
moved by Ross and seconded by Tancre to approve the recommeneation.

2. Water Department. - Chlorination Bdildi~g. It
was moved by Spencer and seconded by Tancre to approve the bid
of $1389.50 of o. H. Carson, for the erection of the building
on Navy property at Wells No.6 and 7, subject to the approval
by the Navy of the plans and specifications.

3. State Highway Department-San Diego Freeway Ageee-
mente Request the elimination of left hand turn and install
more directional signs to the City.
5. Pier Lease - Item No.5. Energy Charge. It was
moved by Hoss and seconded by Tancre to amend Item No. 5 so
that pier lessees be charged for only that portion of energy
charges on the leased portion of the pier.
