The City CounoiL of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 P.M. ~ith Mayor Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The.minutes of the regular meeting of August 20th, 1957
were rea~ and approved on the Mayor's motion.
Heports of the Polioe, Building, License, Water and
Tax Departments ~or the month of August, 1957 were presented.
. It was moved by floss and seconded by Spencer to. rece ive and
file the City Officers reports.

Demands numbering 6197 to 630.5 inclu~ive, as approved
by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Ross
and seconded by Tancre that the demands be allowed and warrants
Request of the Mojave Corporation for permission to
use the parking lot and road leading to the mouth of the San
Gabriel River to remove sand in compliance with agreement with
the Los Angeles County Flood Control Distriot. A petition
objecting to the project, signed by Mrs. James Jensen, 118 B
1st Street and fifteen (l5) other residents of the area was
also presented. Follow~ng discussion this Matter was tabled. ~

state Aid) was presented by the City Attorney. Mr. Tancre
and Mr. rtoss reported meeting with State and County officials
relative to financing, and remedial plans for this year.
The City Engineer estimated that temporary groins would cost
approximately $100.00 per foot. It was moved by <toss and
seconded by Tancre to adopt nesolution No. 96.5.

The City Engineer reported on the condition of the
beach over a three month p~riod at Dolphin Avenue, 14th, 13th,

and 10th S,treets. Possible remedial work was discussed at
length. Mr. Tancre suggested that the Beaoh Committee and
City Engineer meet with the Army Engineers to discuss the
matter further. The City Engineer to make the appointment.
Letter from the Marina Constructors Ino., agent for
Ben Weingart, owner of Tract #2590, requesting exonerating
that portion of the subdivision bond covering the value of the
street, sewer and water work. After some discussion the matter
was tabled.

Letter from Jack Lind, l631 Seal Way, requesting
clean-up along Seal Way and Navy fence. The City Engineer
stated that the beach area had been cleaned up.
In regard to that portion of the City and Orange

County lying within the area of the Marina, the City Engineer
was instructed to map the area.
Request of the Long Beach Exoeptional Children'S
Foundation, Ino. to solioit funds during a door to door
"walk" Monday evening, November 25th, 1957 was read. It
was moved by Spencer and seconded by Ross to grant the re-

Petition signed by Willard M. Hanzlik, l213 Electric
~venue and twenty other property owners in the area, to con-
sider designating Electrio Avenue as a one-way street was
discussed. This request was referred to the City Engineer
for survey and study and report to the Council.
Request of the United States Committee for the
United Nations and the Orange County Chapter of the American
Association for the United Nat~ons, Inc. to celebrate the
Twelfth Anniversary, October 24, 1957, was approved.

Beach, September 6, 1957 was received and filed.
It was moved by Ross and seconded by Flanagan that
$150.00 per councilman be allocated for expenses to attend
the League of California Cities Conferenoe,.San Franoisco,
September 22nd to 25th, 1957.

Gas Company had acquired the interests of Freeman Fairfield
in the lease for oil on City water property. It was moved
