The city Council of the city of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called tb order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Calvo announced that the first order of busi-
ness would be to open bids as advertised for the rehabilita-
tion of two water wells.
The bids opened were;

were read and approved on the Mayor1s Motion.
Reports of the ~olice, Building, Lioense, Water and
Tax Departments for the month of September, 1957 were presented.
It was moved by Spencer and seoonded by Tancre to receive and
file the City Officers reports.

The City Engineer recommended that the low bid of Water
Well Supply Co. be accepted for the water well project. It was
moved by Tancre and seconded by Spencer to award the contract
to Water Well Supply Co. at the bid price of $4323.00, plus tax.

indicated that it was not their intention nor were they in
favor of closing Bolsa Avenue.

Mayor Calvo stated that several local groups had
suggested that some planning should be done about building
a community center to suppliment the auditorium. A general
discussion was held with the Council and members of the
audience taking part, as to location, plans, financing, etc.
The Hayor appointed the Building Committee of Spencer and
Hoss to meet with the local organizations to attempt to de-
velop a building progrw~.

Request of the First B~ptist Church for permission to
use the auditorium for adult Bible classes on Sundays from 9:30 AM
to ll:OO EM, beginning October 6th and continuing for six months,
was granted. The churoh to take care of the janitorial ser.vices.
Mr. Ross displayed a design for a proposed neon sign
for the corner of Main and Coast Highway. He was instructed to
