The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the.Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the regular meeting of November 5,
1957 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion.
Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for
the month of October 1957 were presented. It was moved by
Ross and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City
Officers reports.

Demands numbering 6684 to 6748 inclusive, totaling
$14,715.43 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.
It was Moved by Flanagan and seconded by Ross that the demands
be allowed and warrants drawn on the Tl'easury for the same.

Upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission
it was moved by noss and seconded by Tancre that the set-back
of buildings in Tracts No. 1817 and 2591 be the same as in
Tract No. 2590 and to instruct the City Attorney to prepare
such an ordinance.

After a lengthy discussion in which the Council
members, City Attorney and Mr. Goldin and Mr. Rose, represent-
ing S. Mark Taper, Ino., took part, it was moved by Tancre
and seconded by Spencer that the Minute Order of the City
Counoil adopted August 20, 1957, relating to certain condition-
al exceptions as to Tracts No. 1817, 2590 and 2591 is hereby
repealed and the City Council does hereby grant the following
conditional exceptions as to Lots in Tracts No. 1817 and 2591:
Lota l39 through l58 inclusive and Lot
384 in Traot l8l7, and Lots. 40 through
43- inclusive and Lots' 80 through 83; in~d.l": ,.J
elusive and Lot l61 in Tract 2591 may
be used for all the uses permitted in
the R-l, R-2 and R-3 distriots, under the

same restrictions as specified in Sections

11, l2, 13 and 14 of Ordinance No. 406,

Provided that such variances are conditioned upon the following:
1. That prior to the requesting of a residential oerti-
ficate of occupancy for any lot on either of said tracts which
abut on Bay Boulevard or Pacific Coast Highway, S. Mark Taper
shall cause to be constructed a five (5) 'foot wall along said
lots adjoining such lots in accordance with t he plans on ~ile
with the City of Seal Beach; that prior to requesting any
commercial oertificate of occupancy for any lots on either of
said tracts which abut on Bay Boulevard or Pacific Coast Hwy.,
S. Mark Taper shall cause to be constructed and installed such
improvementa thereon as may be required by the City Engineer;
that such variances are further conditioned upon the promise,

commercial oertificate of occupancy has been requested by

In regard to a position of Engineering Clerk, the
Director of Public Service was instructed to draw up the job
class ification.
Additional compensation over and above the contract
agredment for trash collection was discussed. It was moved by
Tancre and seconded by Ross that an incr'ease of $500.00 per
month be granted and that a rider be attached to the present
contract stating the increased amount and additional services.
