It was moved by Ross and seconded by Tancre that the
City Counci~ adopt the proposed pension plan.

Motion lost.
Resolution No. 952 (Amending Section 2 of Resolution
No. 981) was presented by the City A~~orney. This ammendment
is to remove the measure to inore~se the One Dollar general fund
limit and replace it with the measure to be voted on by the
electorate to approve or reject the proposed pension plan. It
was moved by Spencer and seconded by Flanagan to adopt Resolution
No. 98~ and that the date Of~l, 1958 be the effective date
of the pension plan if approved.

The Clerk announced that Mr. Nichols of the Moffet
Beaoh
and Nichols Engineering Co., had arranged a date of February
13th at 10:00 A.M. to meet with the U.S. Army Engineers to dis-
cuss the proposed beach protection program. The Mayor, Mr.
Tancre and r~. Flanagan to attend.
Invitation to the Mayor from the Independent Business
Men'S Association, Long Beach,_ to attend a meeting in San Diego,
March 21, 1958 was read and acoepted by the Mayor.
It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Flanagan to
appoint Alan Harbour to the newly created position of Engineer-
ing Aid on a temporary basis, pending an examination by the
Civil Service Board.

Letter from Civil Aeronautios Board, relative to a
public hearing filed by Southwest Airways of its intent to add
Long Beaoh as a co-terminal point, was received and filed.
Request of Butler-Harbour Construction Co., for approv-
ing and acoepting oertain improvements for maintenance in Tract
2590 was deferred until next meeting.

Appelate Court had been rendered in the rtellman-Naval Depot
Annexation case. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by

An invitation to participate in the ~'Westminister
Founder Dayslt parade, March B, 1958 was referred to the
of Commerce.
Mr. Ross asked what effect the recent court decision
in the Hellman Annexation case would have on the Bolsa Chi~a
Annexation. Mr. Buck stated that a decision of the Orange
County Council would be necessary.
Mr. Spencer stated that many streets in the north-
east section of the City were in bad condition. The City Engi-
neer stated that patching work was now in progress.
Mr. Trygg reported that the trees were now ready for
planting on Main Street and the work would begin at once.
Lack of, and the condition of several street direot-
ional signs was referred to the Street Department.

Date of the removal of the Pacific Electrio Railway
spur track from 14th street to Bay Blvd. had been reset from
February 21st to Maroh lOth.

It was brought to the attention of the Council that
spot-lites were needed for the Auditorium and that the kitchen
was badly in need of painting. Referred to the City Engineer.
It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Ross to
adjourn.
