The City Council of the City of Seal Beaoh met in
regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The
meeting was called to oI'der with the Pledge of A-llegiance.

the City of Seal Beach declaring the results of the General
Municipal Election) was presented by the City kttorn~y. It was
moved by Tancre and seconded by Flanagan to adopt Resolution
987
No. 987.

The statement of the City Clerk as to the election
results is Made a part of these minutes and are attached hereto.
Mayor
Following a few remarks by Mr. Calvo and ~~. Spencer,
the City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Glenn O. Jones,
Albert R. Leonard and Fred Flanagan, the newly elected councilmen.
The Clerk announced that nominations were no~ open for
the eleotion of Mayor.
Harry Ross was no~inated by Glenn Jones and seoonded by
Leonard. Glenn Jones was nominated by Tanore and seconded by
Flanagan. It was moved by Leonard and seoonded by Jones to close
the nOMinations, which was unamiously approved. The votes were as
follows:

After a ruling by the City Attorney, it was moved
by Ross and saconded by Leonard that the election shou~d be
determined by lot or the flip of ~ coin.

This method determined that Harry Ross be elected
~~yor, who ,was then seated.
Tancre then nominated Glenn Jones, Vice Mayor, who
was seconded by Flanagan. It was moved by Tancre and seconded
by Leonard to close the nominations.

Mayor Ross spoke briefly of the responsibilites of
the Mayor and Councilmen ,and his aims to fulfill them.
This being the time and plaoe as advertised for a
public hearing in regard to weed abatement, there being only
one protest in writing, Resolution~o. 988 (Weed Abatement)
was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard
and seconded by Tancre that Resolution No. 988 be adopted.

The minutes of the regular meeting of April 1, 1958
were read and approved on the Mayor1s motion.

Reports of the Water, Tax, City Clerk and City Treas-
er for the month of March, 1958 were presented. It was moved
by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre to reoeive and file the
City Officers reports.

Demands numbering 7251 to 7326 incl~sive, totaling
$12,645.56 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.
It was moved ,by Flanagan and seconded by Leonard that the de-
mands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same.

Mr. Caldwell be appointed to replace Mr. Trygg as a Trustee

Announcement of the regular meeting of the Associated
Chambers of Commerce, April 22nd, Knotts Berry Farm, was
received and filed.
Drainage
Mr. Caldwell reported that the plans for the drain-
age projeot were progressing and that more information would
be available next week.
Beach cleaning and mosquito abatement was discussed
.and referred to Mr. Caldwell.

The condition of unloading materials by the Pacifio
Electric Railway on their spur track was disoussed and re-
ferred to Mr. Buck.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre to
adjourn unt11 Monday April 21, 1958 at 7:00 P.M.

the assessment, the collection, payment and enforcement of
the taxes and redemption of property from sale for non-pay-

Tax Collector., Auditor and Board of Supervisors of Orange
County, and providing for compe2sation to the County for the
