The meeting was called to order with the Pledge or Allegianoe. Present: Mayor Ross Counoilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tanore kbsent: " It None I The Minutes of the regular meeting of May 20, 1958 were read and approved on the Mayorls motion. Reports of the Building, POlioe, License, Water and Tax Departments, for the month of May 1958 were presented. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City Officers reports. AYES 1 NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Demands, payroll No. 522 to 587 inolusive and regular demands No. 7425 to 7485 inolusive, totaling $2l,293.03 were pres- ented. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES:: NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None I Moti:lD carried. Ord. Ordinance No. 524 (Repealing Ord. No. 423, Parking Lot Fund) was presented by title by the City Attorney. It was moved by . 524 Jones and seconded by Flanagan to waive the second reading of Ord. No. 52.4. AYES:' NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. It ~as moved by Tancre and seconded by Jones that Ord. No. 524. be deemed as having had its seoond reading and be passed for adoption. Resolution No. 994 (Uniform Building Code 1958) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Tancre to adopt Resolution No. 994. Mayor Ross accepted the suitably framed one half dollar used to determine his election as Mayor, on behalf of the City. Upon the reijuest of Police Chief Howard, it was moved by . Leonard and seconded by Tancre to appoint George Marshall and F. R. Van Sandt, Police Sergeants. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. . It was Moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that Mar- shall and Van Sandt be advanced one pay step effective June l6th 1958. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Hoss None Motion carried. Application for license to sell fireworks by the American Legion was presented. It was moved by Leonard and seoonded by Jones that the license be granted and the fee waived. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Request of the Seal Beach Lions Club for an ex~ension of dates to sell fireworks was reoeived and filed. Letter from the First Western Bank in regard to a branch bank was recieved and filed. Letter in reference to the reopening of the Garden of Allah was received and filed. Pollcl Dept. Polll Dept Fire Works Fire Works Bank Licebl It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the City Clerk and Tax Assessor is directed to send notice to the City owner of eaoh lot or parcel in Traots 1817, 2590 and 2591, that the Asses City Council will sit as a Board of Equalization on July 1, 1958 at 7: 00 P.M. in the Counc 11 Chambers, and at that time and place 148 Police Dept. Boh. Bch. erose storm drain proposes to raise the assessed valuation of each lot and parcel of property in Tracts l817, 2590 and 259l and that the owners of. .:.. . such lots and paroels may appear at such meeting and have a full and fair hearing prior to the Council making a determination con- cerning its proposed intention. Br~dfora and twelve other members of the Police Department requesting a pay raise, was re- ferred to the Police Committee. I Request of Kemmerer Engineering Company to haul sand from the San Gabriel River over City streets was denied. Notice of public hearing Regional Water Pollution Con- trol Board was received and filed. Minutes of the Orange County Boundary Commission, received and filed. Letter from Department of Water Resources in regard to beach erosion project was received and filed. Mr. Caldwell reported progress on the Storm Drainage program. I Mr. Caldwell also reported arrainging a meeting in regard to street repairs. The proposed publicity campaign was disoussed. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard to adjourn.
