It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Flanagan to
acce~t the resignation of John Herrin effective October 31,
1958. ~fter a lengthy discussion, Mr. Tancre with the consent
of Mr. Flanagan withdrew his motion.
It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Jones to
adjourn.

regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the regular meeting of October 21, 1958
and the Special Meeting of October 30, 1958 were read and approv~
ed on the Mayor1s motion.
Reports of the Police, Building and License Depart-
ments for the month of October, 1958 were presented. It was
moved by Jones and seconded by Tancre to receive and file
the City Officers reports.

Compensatory time and vacation time for F. W. Hickman,
w. S. Knighton, Roy Thomas, Fern Henryson and Cecile Hattersley
was approved and vacation time extended to January 30, 1959.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that
ov~r-time pay be allowed for C. Wellcher 5 hours and C. Smith,
8 hours for October 25, 1958.

Request of the Pacific Electric Railway for a suppli-
mental lease on right-of-way was referred to the Council and City
Attorney for further study.
It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan to approve
the request of Joe Kidd, 637 'Taper Drive to extend an open covered
patio roof within 4 feet, 8 inches of the rear property line.

freeways in this vicinity was received and filed.
Letter from the County Librarian in reference to the
removal of the local library from the City Hall was referred to
Mr. Caldwell.
After some discussion it was moved by Flanagan that the
use of incinerators in the city be abolished, effective
Feb. 1, 1959. Motion lost for want of a second. The matter
was referred back to committee.

moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre that Dolphin Avenue
be made a one-way street, with traffic moving south from
Electric Avenue to Ocean Avenue. After a general discussion,
Mr. Leonard withdrew his motion for further study.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that
O. H. Carson be appointed to the Civil Servi~e Commission.

The bids were referred to the City Engineer for analysis.
The minutes of the regular meeting of November 5. 1958
were read and approved on the Mayor1s motion.
