P olic e Dept. co-op Nursery seal Beach, California December 2, 1958 The City Council of the city of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre Absentl It I " None The minutes of the regular meeting of November 18th 1958 were read and approved on the Mayor1s motion. Reports of the Police, Building, License, Water and Tax Department~ for the month of November, 1958 were presented. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard to receive and file the City Officers reports. AYES 1 NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Payroll demands No. 1237 to 1289 inclusive, and regu- lar demands No. 7915 to 7965 inclusive, totaling $19,110.19 were presented. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury I for the same. AYES 1 NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried.. Resolution No. 101), (Surplus Federal Property) was presented by the City Attorney. It" was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard to adopt Resolution No. 1013. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. \ The City Attorney was instructed to prepare an ordinance making Dolphin Avenue a one-way street. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre that Lee Howard be granted a one step raise from $536.00 to $562.00 per month effective December 1, 1958. I AYES: NOES I' Flanagan. Upon the recommendation of the City Attorney it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre, that the Co-op Nursery School be granted permission to change its insurance. Letter from the Civil Service Commission relative to . the wage scale for the new position of General City Foreman was referred to Committee. Letter from the Civil Service commission regarding recent promo~io~s in the Police Department was received and filed. . Mr. Buck read a letter from the Pacific Electric Rail- way in regard to a supplimental lease for the right-of-way. After some discussion it was referred to a committee of Leonard, Jones and the Director of Public Service. The City Attorney read two letters from the State Lands Commission relative to the renewal of the pier permi~, which was referred to Mr. Caldwell. . , The City Attorney read a letter from the Hellman Estate regarding the sale of additional property near the City Yard. . The matter was further referred to Mr. Buck for negotiation. Letter from the Orange County Mosquito Abatement District . requesting the appointment of a director for a two year period ending ~nJ,181lr December 31, 1960 was refel'red to Committee. Letter from the State Division of ~igh~ays" s~~~~ng a proposed freeway in this area was 'referred to Mr. Caldwell. Request of the United Veterans Council for. the install- ation of a spot-light on the War Memoria~ Plaque was referred to Mr. Cald.well. Request of the Sunset Beach Realty Company for a fifteen minuta parking zone in front of thei~ branch office at 1400 Ocean Avenue Was referred to the Police Department for survey. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that the request of the Methodist Church be granted for a temporary Sunday . School in the Youth Center, subject to schedule obtained from Mr. Caldwell. AYES: NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. It was .moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement for the North East Storm Drainage Project with the Orange County Flood Control District. AYES: NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. &s requested, Mr. Caldwell quoted prices for additional police cars. Drain age Finance Committee. upon the recommendation of,Mr. Caldwell it was moved by Tancre and s,econded by Leonard that the contract with Top's Chemical Company for chlorine be renewed. Upon the recommendation of Mr. Caldwell it was moved . by Leonard and seconded by Jones to purchase'one portable flood control pump, complete at a price of $1175.00.
