The City council of the City of Seal Beach met in regu-
lar session at 7:30 P.M. with MaYOl' ROSS presiding. The meet-
ing was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the regular meeting of December 2, 1958

were read and approved on the Mayor'S motion.
Reports of the City C~erk and City Treasurer for the
month of November 1958 were pI'esented. It was moved by Jones
and seconded by~ncre to receive and ~ile the City Officers
reports.

seconded by Flanagan to waive .the
A,rt:er some disc uss ion l'egarding certain demands. Mayor
Ross appointed Mr. Tancre to serve on the Finance Committee as it
concerned demands No. 7967 and 7970. Regular demands No. 7966 to
7988 inclusive and payroll demands No. 1290 to 1337. totaling
'$22,502.75, less demand No. 7986 for $6,000.00 were presented.
It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre that the demands
be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same.

The request of the Chamber of Commerce for $200.00
to help defray the Christmas street decoration expense was dis-
.cussed. It was moved by Tanore to,approve the amount.of $200.00.
Mayor Ross relinquished the chair to Mr. Jones, for the Purpose
of.seoonding the motion. Further discussion on the motion
followed.

Request of the Orange County Heart Association to
conduct the 1959 Heart FUnd Campaign in the City was approved.

Mr. Caldwell sugges~ed action be taken on defeotive

sidewalks ia the City. After'discussion the matter was referred
to the street committee.
Mr. Tancre1s request for permission to. use the Youth
Center for a Boy Scout troop was approved subject to the schedule
of use.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones to
authorize the Mayor to execute an application with the Public
utilities Commission, for a grade crossing as part of the Fifth

street Extension project.

The placing of Christmas trees on side walks by merchants
was discussed with no action taken.
Informal bids for a gasoline and oil contraot were
presented by the City Engineer. Upon reoommendation of Mr.
caldwell, it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones to award
the contract to the standard Oil Company and that Mr. Caldwell
be authorized to execute the contract.
