City C er Seal Beach, California March 17, 1959 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen:, Flanagan, Jones, Leonard. Tancre I Absent: None The minutes of the regular meeting of March 3, 1959 were read and approved on the Mayor'S motion. Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of FeQruary 1959 were presented. It was moved by Jones . and seconded by Tancre to receive and file the City Officers reports. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard. Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. I Payroll demands No. 1590 to 1636 inclusive and regular demands No. 8182 to 8216 inclusive. totaling $17,127.68 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Jones that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES I, NOES:' . It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre that North and Craig be permitted to solicit home owners to dis- pose of inctnerators at a price of $2.00 each; the license fee to be waived. I After hearing a report from the Chief of Police and Lifeguard Captain it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flana- gan that city lifeguards be paid $1.75 per hour and that the captain be paid $2.00 per hour, effective at once. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the request of the Police Reserve Corp to increase its force by two members" with the $10.00 uniform allowance, be allowed, and that the annual report be received and filed. Bch. - Beach Groin It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard that should the Nava~ Ammunition and Net Depot be annexed by the city of westminister, the City of Seal Beach shall be unable to render f~re assistance to the Depot since Seal Beach has no mutual a&sistanoe pact with Westminister and cannot enter into such Agreement sinoe Westminister has no fire department of its own, it being serviced by the county Fir~ Department. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized .and directed to execute an agreement with the. Mr. caldwell reported that the sand in the Marina project did not come up to standards necessary for our beach 'I fill program. . ReqUest of the Department of Water and Power for sand to be used.in their new project on the upper San Gabriel River was discussed with no action taken. BEACH Groin Proj~ It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre to recind permission given to Pacific Bridge Company to use 211 Ocean ^venue, east of First street AYESr ABSENT :. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Flanagan to permit Pacific Bpidge Company to use the First street parking lot as part of the Beach Groin Project. Bch.
