Reports of the Police, Building, License, Water and Tax Departments for the month of March 1959 were presented. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Flanagan to receive and file the City Officers reports. Letter from the City Treasurer requesting transfer of ,$36,658.20 from Bank of Belmont Shore and $55~659.43 from the Bank of America to the beach groin fund, both amounts from the Inactive savings Funds was read. Letter from Chief of Police Lee Howard requesting leave of absence to expire September 4, 1960 to compensate for all vacation accrued, was read. Hesolution No. 1022 (Granting Leave - Lee Howard) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre,to adopt Resolution No. 1022. I Notice of filing a Notice of Intention to circulate a petition to incorporate a new city to be known as Sunset Bay and portion of the minutes of the County Boundary Commission. relative to Sunset Bay, from the Board of Supervisors was received and filed. Request of the seal Beach Lions Club to block off Central Avenue from Main to easterly alley, on May 16th from 7:00 AM to 12:00 noon for their Annual Pancake Breakfast was approved. Upon request of the Lions Club it was moved by Tancre and seconded by Flanagan to approve two locations as requested &Ad to waive the license fee for two fireworks stands from June 27th through July 5th 1959. Referred to the council for further study. Renewal of Umbrella and Aquatic concession of G. Stangeland was discussed. Tancre, Jones Ros's Motion carried. ~s there appeared to be a misunderstanding between certain City Councilmen, City Officials and Craig and North relative to the removal of incinerators, the matter was referred to Mr. caldwell and Mr. Craig tOlsbraighten out. In regard to the condemnation of additional property near the City Yard, which was discussed at length the matter was referred back to the City Attorney for further advice and I counsel. Mr. Buck reported on the progress of the Fifth ~treet Extension project as it concerns the Pacific Electric Railway and the Public utilities Commission. In regard to the weed abatement program, Mr. Caldwell was instructed to contact the Fire Chief for a permit to burn the tumble weeds in the subdivision. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre to authorize the Director of Public Service to abate weeds by the roto-tiller method. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to executa an aMended lease agreement for the Pier as it applies to Section 24 of the original lease. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan that the Mayor be authorized to execute an easeMent with the Pacific Electric Railway as part of the North East Storm Drain project. AYES: ABSENT. Estimated prices for contractural lawn maintenance services' as it pertains to the City Hall grounds and certain I park areas was referred to committee. Letter of appreciation from Mr. J. R. Leddy, 214 1st street for the new Youth Center program was received and filed. . Complaint of Mrs. Dorothy Henkey, 706 Ocean Avenue about Jf'~:z!'e rings on beach in front of her home was read. 215 , Mr. Roy Thomas explained that they had been placed in error and would be removed. I Upon the request of the Chamber of Commerce it was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard to grant permission for a musical ten~ show at Main and Coast Highway, May 11th to 16th, license fee waived, all subject to the approvaL or the Fire and Police Departments.
