W. nrain age Reso. !Qgl Seal Beach, California May 19, 1959 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach Met in regul9.I' session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tanore Absent: It It None I The minutes of the regular meeting of May 5, 1959 were read and approved on the Mayor'S motion. Reports of the City Clerk and Ci ty Trea~urer for the month of April 1959 were presented. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Jones to receive and file the City 'Officers reports. AYES: NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre. Ross None Motion carried. Regular demands No. 8334 to 8365 inclusive and pay- roll demands No. 1790 to 1842 inclusive, totaling $14,746.74 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. o I AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Resolution No. 1026 (Northeast Storm Drain Mainten- ance) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre to adopt Resolution No. 1026. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Jones that the Mayor be. authorized and directed to execute a. temporary easement agreement with the Pacific Electric Railway for the Northwest Storm Drain Project. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None I Motion carried. Resolution No. 1027 (Awarding Bid, Northwest Storm Drain) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Jones to adopt Resolution No. 1027. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. After hearing letters read from the Planning Commission and a petition regarding off-street parking, it was moved by 228 Plan Leonard and seconded by Jones that the City Attorney be instructed Comm. to bring'in an ordinance to change the one each living unit to two parking areas for~three parking area for each living units. AYES: NOES: Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross Flanagan Motion carried. upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission it was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that Lots 18~ 19, 20, Block F, Tract.No. 1; Lots 1 through 8, Block H, Tract No. 1009; and Lots 1 ~hrough 8, Block D, Tract No.1 be retained as Zone C-l. . Upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tancre that a building variance be granted for Lots 19, 20, 21, 22, Block E. Tract No. 1. Upon the request of the Chief of .Police it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that a petty cash fund of $100 be estab~ished for the Police Department. Request of Orange Coast College to use the Hecreat- ion Center for adult art classes, beginning September 14, 1959 was referred to the Building and Youth Center Committees. Request of the United Veterans Council for use of certain equipment for Memorial Day services was referred to Hr. Caldwell. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan that permission be granted the Police Chief to appoint two police women to the department on a temporary'basis, pending an eligible list from Civil Service. It.was moved by Jones and seconded by Tanore that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a lease purchase agreement for one "Pull-type Beachcomber", from Lockwood Grader Corporat10n ~t $3525.00 plus $200.00 freight. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Leonard that Mayor Harry Ross be authorized and"directed to execute an agreement for the prosecution of shore protection work with the United States of America. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Jones that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a suppltmental agreement with Pacific Bridge Company. AYES. I Mr. Caldwell reported that the Southern California Edison Company was renego~iating its costs as it concerns the Fifth street Extension. Mr. Caldwell reported the total costs of the pro- posed Northwest storm Drain Project. Members of the Parent-Teachers Association requested action to prevent hazing of school children. The~ were informed that the Police Department was setting up a program.
