regular session at 7130 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The
meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegianoe.

The minutes of the regular meeting pf May 19, 1959
were read and approved. on the Mayor's motion.
Reports of the Building, police, License, Water
and Tax Departments for the month of l1ay, 1959 were pre-
sented. It was moved by Jones and s~conded by Leonard to
receive and file the City Officers reports.

Motion carried.
Payroll demands No. ~843 to 1901 inclusive and
regular demands No. 8366 to 8405 inolusive, for a total of
$54.902.49 as approved by the Finance Committee were pre-
sented. It was moved by Jones an~ seoonded by Flanagan that
the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for

the same.

Ordinanoe No. 539 (Amending Sec. 13 (A) 5 of Ordin-
ance 406 - Land us~was presented in full by the City Attorney.
It was moved ~y Leonard and seconded by Jones that Ordinance
No. 539 having had its first reading be passed to the second
read ing..

Ordinance No. 540 (Amending Sec. 4 of Ordinance 476,
Civil S&rvice) was presented in full by the.City Attorney. It
was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that Ordinance No.
540 having had its first reading be passed to the seoond read-
ing.

Motion carried.
The License Colleotor announoed oertain changes in
the collection of bicycle and dog licenses and requested the
Taxi Ordinaqoe be amended so that collection of taxi driver r .J
permits could be included.in the ch~~~~. The City Attorney
was instructed to bring in such an amendment.
Letter of appreciation from Lee Howard for the recent
testimonial dinner and honorary badge, was received with grati-
tude.

Request of Pacific Bridge Co. for a thirty day exten-
sion on the completion of the beach groin was discussed. It
was moved by Jones and seconded, by Leonard to deny the request.

Request of Nancy Ad~s for a license to enggge in
palmistry at 205 Main Street was referred baok to the License
Collector and Police Department for further investigation.
Fire insurance on the pier and City buildings was
~eferred to the City Attorney. The City Clerk to get 30 day
binder on the City buildings polioy.
Pro rating of City Business Licenses was discussed
at length. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that
licenses be pro rated on a semi-annual basis for businesses
established in a business area. After~further discussion Mr.
Leonard withdrew his motion.
Meter-ticket dispensers for the parking lots were
discussed. It was moved by Flanagan and seoonded by Jones

session, Thursday, June 4th at 7:30 P.M.
Mayor Ross read a letter from Mrs. Evelyn M. Avery
withdrawing as volunteer youth director.

The request of the Chambers' of-Commerce to use

Mr. W. L. Robertson requested information in regard
to his property at 5 Coast Highway as it concerns fire, police
and sanitary facilities<, for a proposed project. He qisplayed
a tentative sketch of the Department of Water and Power outfall
as related to his property. Toe matter was.discussed and
referred to the City Engineer.
Mr. Riddell addressed the council seeking more
informa~ion regarding the Youth center and future activities.
The matter was discussed by members of the CounciL and audience.
Mayor Ross again announced that he would contact Mrs. Avery to
see what oould be arranged.
