The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmenl Flanagan. Janes; Leonard, Tancre Absent: " " None The minutes of the regular meeting of August 18, 1959 were read and approved on the Mayorfs motion. Reports of the Building, Police, License, Water and Ci ty Clerk i'or the month of August 1959 were pres~nted. P&yroll demands No. 2195 to 2258 inclusive and regular demands No. tl621 to tl658 inclusive, totaling $24.712.94 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. Mr. Buck reported that he had received the approval from the Public Utilities Commission for the Fifth street Ex- 1 5th tension Project to cross the ~acific Electric right-of-way. After hearing an explanation of the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program by Mr. Caldwell, ~t was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the program be referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer for the pur- st. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that the resignation be accepted with regrets and that the Clerk be instructed to write a letter of appreciation for his service. Mr. Caldwell reported that the State would let bids for the North East Storm Drainage project. Mr. Caldwell also reported that the Beach Groin project was in the finishing and clean-up stages.
