The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre I Absentl " " None The minutes of the regular meeting of September 1st and . the extraordinary session of September 3, 1959 ~- .Il and ~ r... o '<t ~ ::c were read and approved as corrected on the Mayor'a motion. Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of August 1959 were presented. It was moved by Jones and secondea by ~lanagan to receive and file the City Offioers peports. AYES: NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Payroll demands No. 2259 to 2317 inclusive and regular demands No. tl659 to tl70J; inclusive totaling $39,167.57 as, 1 approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Jones and seconded by ~~anagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES :, NOES I Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion carried. Letter of commendation to the ~olice Department from Ben Lewis, 327 Main Street, was received and filed. Letter from the Seal Beach Lions Club requesting assistance in financing the 1959 Annual Children's Halloween Party was read and discussed. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Tancre to furnish three rides at $175.00,rest roome and the necessary labor to set-up the'grounds. ,Lj. Request of the Junior Woman's Club for use of the Auditorium and kitchen facilities on certain dates was approved Woms Club subject to confirmation by the Police Depa~tment. Mr. Moffitt of Moffitt and Nichols Engineering Company addressed the Council telling of final inspection of the beach 254 Bch. groin, with Federal, State and City engineers, September ,10th 1959. Mr. Caldwell reported on the condition of the pier and safety precauction protection of the groin. Mr. Jones inquired about progress on an additional water well for the systeM. Mr: Caldwell stated that his preliminary progress report was not entirely complete. The agreeMent was referred to the City Attorney to prepare a proper resolution. The Fifth Street extension as such was approved and designated as Fifth street. Ext.
