The meeting was oalled to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Ross Counoilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tanore Absent: II " None The minutes of the regular meeting of December 1, 1959 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. Reports of the Cit~ Clerk and City Treasurer for the month of November 1959 were presented. It was moved by Jones and seoonded by Leonard to receive and file the City Offioers I reports. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion oarried. Water Upon the request of Mr. Caldwell it was moved by Leonard and seoonded by Flanagan to. transfer $40,000.00 from the Water Fund to the General Fund. ~ AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tanore, Ross None Motion oarried. After oonsiderable disoussion the matter was re- Sub ferred to the City Attorney to oontaot the p~operty owners as it conoerns the date of Maroh 1. 1960 for the ereotion of the wall. Payroll demands No. 2585 to 2633 inolusive and regular demands No. 893~ to 8973 inclusive, totaling $22,507.07 as approved by the Fin~oe Committee were presented. It was moved by Jones and seoonded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre, Ross None Motion oarried. "The Clerk announced that he had received the advanoe annual pier rental of $6500.00 whioh would renew the option of Lesoher and Stookon for the munioipal pier. Letter of commendation for the Polioe Department from A. H. Abbott, Marina Market was reoeived and filed. Letter of request from R. E. Harbour, acting Chief of Police for an adjusted pay plan for the Polioe Department was discussed at length. It was decided to hold an informal oommittee meeting Deoember 28, 1959 at 7:30 P.M. for further disoussion. The Clerk stated that he had contacted the Webster Corp. restating the Counoil's request to remove unused billboards at the North side of Coast Highway. Upon the request of Mr. Jones it was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Leonard to appoint Joseph.E. Sohieblauer, 1704 Crestview., to t~e Civil Service Commission to fill out the un- expired term of Earl Gilliam who recently resigned. Mr. Tanore was instruoted to contaot him in regard to his aooeptanoe. City En~ineers A~enda - Contract. PetroleUM Produots- Mr. Caldwell presented bids and his reoommendation. It was moved by Jones and seconded by Flana- gan that the Mayor be authorized to exeoute a one year oontract with the Standard"Oil Company. AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre. Referred to the City Attorney for lega~ set-up. Exoessive speed on Catalina Avenue referred to the Chief of Police. The City Engineer was ins~ructed to get information regarding the proposed incorporation of Rossmore. The possibilit~ of a fire station bond issue was briefly I, discussed.
