Seal Beaoh, California January 19, 1960 The City Council of the City of Seal Beaoh met in regu- , lar session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Ross presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegianoe. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen: Jones, Leonard, ~anore Absent: " Flanagan " The minutes of the regular meeting of January 5th and the Speoial Meeting of January 11, 1960 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. Mayor Ross altered the regular, order of business to permit Mr. James Young to make a statement relative to an appeal of the Planning Commission's decision denying his' rezoning request. Plan The letter from the P~anning Commission denying the request to re- Comm. ~one from R-l to R-3, Lots 40 to 53 inclusive and 70 to 80 inclusive,---- Traot No. 2591, on motion of Leonard and seconded by Tanore was re- oeived and filed. It was moved by Tanore . and seoonded by Leohard to adopt Resolution No. 1045. During the discussion on the motion Mr. Leonard withdrew his second. Mayor Ross stepped down from the Chair and seconded Mr. Tancre's motion. Further disoussion followed. It was moved by Leonard and seoonded by Jones to recind the motion made to place the City Manager Form of Government m~asure on the April 12, 1960 ballot. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Tanore that the City Attorney be instructed to bring in an ordinance to raise the salary of the City Treasurer to $100.00 per month. Williams, 720 Catalina Avenue Meet requesting notifioation of meetings was referred to the City Attorney. in~s Letter from the Seal Beaoh Taxpayers Association regarding Tax a meeting January 25th in Civio Auditorium was reoeived an~ filed Invitation from Huntington Beaoh Elks Lodge to the Council to attend a "City Fathers Night" January 26th was reoeived and filed. ~ Request of the Orange County Sooiety for Crippled Child- ren for permission to sell paper lapel lilies in the City, April 8th and 9th as a part of the 1960 Easter Seal Campaign, was approved. Mr. Caldwell reported that our population inorease had ohanged the amount of funds reoeived from the Division of Highways from $10,510 to $15,240 to June 30th 1960 and to $20,180 for 1960- 1961. Div Hwys Mr. Caldwell reported satisfaotory completion of the reconditioning of the water tower. Upon the request of Mr. Caldwell it was moved by Leonard and seoonded by Jones that the Civil Service Commission be instruoted to amend the rules and regulations to provide that a physical exami- nation be given all new employees assigned permanent oivil servioe status.
