The meeting was oalled to order with the Pledge of Allegianoe. Present: Mayor Ross Councilmen: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tancre .A:bsent: " None " The minutes of the regular meeting of January 19, 1960 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. Reports of the Polioe, Building, License, Water and City Clerk Departments' for the month of January 1960,' were presented. It was moved by Tanore and seconded by Leonard to receive and file the City Offioers reports. 1 AYES: NOES: Flanagan, Jones, Leonard, Tanore, Ross None Motion carried. Payroll demands' No. 2739 to 2791 inclusive and regular demands No. 9051 to 9095 inolusive, totaling $19,679.74 as approved by the finance committee were presented. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Jones that Ordinance No. 551 be deemed as having had its final reading Ord. 221 and be passed for adoption. It was moved by Jones and seoonded by Tanore to set the date of February 2J, 1960 at 7:00 P.~. in the Counoil Chambers for the hearing on the appeal. Mr. Leonard outlined the oondition and expense of operating the two po~ice cars, and approximate costs of new equipment. Referred to Committee and Director of Publio Servioe. Mr. Caldwell told of a disoussion held with Mr. Werner Ruohti, Long Beaoh,City Planning Direotor relative to a long range oity planning program. Direoted to arrange meeting with Mr. Ruchti, the City Council and Planning Commission. Mr. Caldwell reported meeting with engineers from Long Beach City, Los Angeles County and U.S. Army regarding the raising of the San Gabriel River embankments and its effeot on bridges and streets in the oity. After considerable disoussion the matter was referred to the Council as a whole, the City Attorney and City Engi- I neer. Mr. Flanagan inquired about proposed plans for a fire station. It was moved by Tanore and seoonded by Jones that $5$,000.00 be set aside from the oil revenue fund for the. fire station projeot.
