The City Counoil of the City of Seal Beach met in regu-
lar session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Gibbs presiding. The meet-
ing WaS called to order with the Pledge of Allegianoe.

Since the minutes of the regular meeting of May 3rd and
the special meeting of May 9, 1960 had previously been submitted
to the Council, they were approved on the Mayor's motion.
The Mayor briefly outlined a new method of oounoil

meeting procedure.
Reports of the City Clerk and City Treasurer for the
month of April, 1960 were presented. It was moved by Jones and
seoonded by Leonard to receive and file the City Offioers reports.

Payroll demands No. 3145 to 3199 inolusive and regu-
lar demands No. 9370 to 9404 inclusive for a total of'$15,485,01
were presented. It was moved by Flanagan and seoonded by Jones
that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury
for the same.

The City Administrator reported that negotiations with
the Navy for a future water well site were under way.

from the Civil Service Commission regarding a proposed examination

meeting for cities and county would be held in Santa Ana, May 23rd.
A preliminary announcement of the 1960 oensus Eor the

Mr. Gemmill oOMMended the Life Guard department for
some forty-s~x rescues made Sunday, May 8th.

allow at not to exceed $200.00 for expenses to attend the League
of California Cities oon~ention, in Berkeley, May 26th.
Mr. Gemmill suggested that the Mayor appoint a citizens
committee to investigate ~uvenile delinquency.
