Mr. Leonard suggested that towels be removed from the rest rooms under the pier and that electric hand dryers be installed. Mr. Pier Gemmill suggested that 'because of the.abuse by the public, towel facilities be removed completely. The City Manaaer was instructed to make the removal. Rest Rooms_ It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Leonard that the City Manager arrange a meeting for August 3rd at 7:30 P.M. with the Employees Association to further discuss the group insurance plan. The Mayor stated that she had been advised that a public hearing on the San Gabriel Freeway would be held August 31st. Referred to the City Manager. . The Mayor urged that more study be given the Sister City Program and suggested a coastal city of similar size in Japan be recommended. The Mayor was instructed to proceed. It was moved by Gemmill and seconded by Leonard that the Mayor and City Manager be authorized to execute a contract with Roscoe Moss for the drilling of Leisure World Water Well No.1. The City Manager reported that further recommendations would be coming from local contractors association in regard to Bldg. building code Changes. Mr. Brashear further reported interviewing applicants for the City Engineer and the hiring of an assistant building inspector. Dept. City " - Mr. Brashear also reported that our resolution to the Board of Supervisors, regarding the San Gabriel Freeway had been referred to the County Surveyor. It was reported that a new schedule would be worked out. Mr. Jones also reported on a recent meeting of the Coastal Transportation Committee. Mr. Jones stated that in his opinion the beach concession was being conducted in a manner of credit to the City. A request for additional sales was referred to the City Manager. Mr. Leonard suggested further changes be made in the business license code to more properly regulate entertainment cafes etc. R~ferred to the City Attorney and City Manager. Mr. Brashear stated that several insurance brokers were working on it. Mayor Gibbs read. a letter, from Assemblyman Richard Hanna offering his assistance in the San Gabriel Freeway matter. The Mayor also stated that a public hearing would be held in regard to the freeway August 31st at 1:30 P.M. in the McGaugh School and. urged all local organizations to attend and protest. It was moved.by Gemmill and seconded by Leonard that the Mayor and Councilman Leonard be authorized to attend the American Municipal Conventi~n in Seattle August 26th to 30~~.
