The meeting was called to order with the salute to the Flag. The invocation was given by Rev. Clyde E. Ruckman, Methodist Church. Present: Mayor Shufelt Councilman: Leonard, Lawhead, Webster Absent: It " Bowen 1 The minutes of the regular meeting of February 16th and the regular adjourned meeting of February 23rd were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. The Mayor announced that this was'the meeting to allow protests' to the weed abatement resolution. No protests were presented. Noble Company to rent the Case tractor for one month.at $250.00, this rental price to apply to purchase price of $1500.00 was referred to Mr. Logan to negotiate the sale without the monthly rental. Request of Grace Irvine for the removal of tree in parkway at 1112 Ocean was referred to Mr. Logan. Reports of the Police, Water Tax and Building Depart- ments for the month of February were presented. Demands numbering 1330 to 1424 inclusive, totaling $7986.84 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Webster and seconded by Lawhead that the de- mands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. After some discussion relative to the purchase of a beach tractor, it was decided to withhold purchase pending sale of the Case tractor. . Mr. Logan reported that new life guard towers had been oonstructed and that he intended to reoommend a change of the qualifications and supervision of the life guard servioe. Youth I I I Mr. Logan further reported that the fence at the Youth Center was nearly finished and that the installation of the volley ball court and basket ball goals were schedu- led to begin at once. Lawns and shrubs will be planted after the above work is completed. Lighting for the play- ground was under study and would be installed later. The Mayor announced that the City Council and the Planning Commission had met informally and had made tenta- tive plans for a sub-division ordinance. -Since the announcement of the recent shootings in Congress, Councilman Albert R. Leonard suggested that in view of the hazards involved as a public official, that it might be necessary to c~ear all spectators who attend the Council meetings through the local Police Department.
