It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawh~ad that the
demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the
same.

Ordinance No. 452 CAn emergency ordinance amending
Sections 41 and 43 of Ordinance No. 225), was
the City Attorney. It was moved by Calvo and
that Ordinance No. 452 be adopted.

It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo that
the City Clerk be instructed to notify all owners of rental
units affected by Ordinance No. 452 and that 500 copies of
the Ordinance be printed.

Mr. Fred Lusk, Superintendent of the Dow Chemical

Company addressed the Council relative to the proposed realigb-
ment o~ the ~acific Electric tracks, crossing the Dow Chemical
Company property and bisecting a portion of the Hellman Property.
He stated that he h~d met with the facific Electric people and
that they had agreed to a study of rerouting be~ind the Chemical
Company plant. He asked for the cooperatioq of the Council in
this regard. Councilman Leonard asked why ~he City had not
been consulted in the plans of the Pacific Electric and the
Marina and suggested a committee be appointed to meet with
Long Beach representatives. Mayor Clark stated that he and
Councilman Calvo had met with a committee from Long Beach

relative to the Marina plans.
Leonard reported that the Youth Center director had
resigned as of June 19, 1954 and moved that Jack Croce be
appointed to the position at $325.00'per month as of June 23, 1954
and that he be under. the direct super.vision of the City Council.
The motion was seconded by Calvo.

Beach
Leonard reported that he believed that certain
Federal and State fUnds might qow be available for the beach
erosion project. Mayor Clark appointed Lawhead and Calvo of
the Beach Committee to investigate and report.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to
Erosion
adjourn.
