The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular session at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Clark presiding.
Mayor Clark announced that the new "Pledge of Allegiance"
would be used, after which the meeting was called to order.
The Invocation was given by Rev. Jerry Yerian,
First Brethren Church.

The minutes of the regular meeting of July 6, 1954
were read and approved on the Mayor's motion.
Mayor Clark introduced Mr. Louis H. Boyar, President
Lakewood Park Development, who stated that their plans for
development or the subdivision depended entirely. on the Marina
project. If the complete plans for the Marina are as extensive
as planned, then they would build a better type home and that
whatever they build will be an asset to the City of Seal Beach.
Letter requesting presence of uniformed police officer
on the east beach to eliminate ItrowdyiSlll" and drinking, signed
by Robert E. Pittaway and twenty other residents. The matter
was referred to the Chief of Police and the City Attorney was
instructed to bring in an ItAnti-Drinking in Public" ordinance.
Letter from the Home Beautiful Shop, protesting the

removal of the Ocean Avenue bridge was received and filed.
Letter from the Seal Beach Fire D~partment, stating
that W. S. Knighton had been re-elected Chief. It was moved
by Lawhead and seconded by Calvo to confirm the appointment of
W. S. Knighton as Pire Chief.

Letter from the State Compensation Insurance Fund
with dividend check for $1,584.06 and congratulating the City
for its accident prevention record in 1952-53 was received

and filed.
Letter of thanks from the Huntington Beach Chamber
of Commerce for the participation of the City in the Fourth
of July Golden Anniversary Jubilee, was received and filed.
Letter from the Seal Beach Board of Equalization,
recommending that an investigation be made into the advisa-
bility of revaluation of all property in the City for assess-

ment purposes. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Leonard
to accept the recommendation.

Report of the City Clerk for the month of June,
1954 was presented. It was moved by Leonard and seconded
by Calvo to receive and file the report.

Demands nlwbering 107 to 171 inclusive, totaling
$9,436.19 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented.
It was moved by Calvo and seoonded by Lawhead that the demands
be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the sqme.

Ordinance No. 453 (An ordinance ammending License
Ordinance No. 452) was presented by the City Attorney. After
considerable discussion by the Council and members of the
aud'~nce it was moved by Calvo and seconded by Flanagan to
table Ordinance No. 453 for further study.

Application of Mr. Vine Williams with looation at
219i 11ain Street, for palmistry Studio license was presented.
It was moved by Lawhead and seconded by Flanagan to grant the
license.

Paul Calvo displayed a tracing linen plan of the'
Fifth Street extension to Coast Highway. Mr. Calvo was in-
struc.ted to proceed with the plan and to have a completed map
sent to the Hellman Estate for study.

A general discussion relative to the removal of the
Ocean Avenue bridge and as to signing and presenting petitions
was followed by an invitation by the Seal Beach Chamber of
Commerce to attend an open meeting, Monday, July 26th at 7.13~
P.M. in the Auditorium to discuss the Marina Project with Long
Ocean

action until after this meeting.
It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Calvo
to adjourn.
