The-City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Clark
presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge
of Allegiance.

A petition and letter signed by R. G. Linnell, J. G.
Canning and nine other apartment owners protesting the limited
parking on Ocean and Main Streets, was received and filed. The
Council agreed to work out some plan for off-street parking.
A petition and letter signed by Milton R. Corcoran,
J. Z. Adamson and fifty-nine other residents requesting alley
repairs in their vicinity was received and filed. It was
announced by Councilman Calvo that the problem was being studied
and repairs would be made as soon as possible.
Letter of invitation to attend presentation ceremonies
at the Orange County Hospital, Sept. 20th, 1954 at 7:00 P.M.

Letter from the Seal Beach Planning Commission
approving request of Mr. Laparco, 107 Eighth Street to remodel
garage. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Calvo to
hold a public hearing on the matter by the Planning Commission.

An invitation by the United Veterans Council to
attend a Pot Luck supper, Monday, September 20th, 1954 at 6:30 P.M.
in the City Hall was received and fired.
Letter from Mrs. Stanley Hartley, 321 12th Street,
protesting the trim~ing of trees in the parkway near her res-
idence was referred to the Street Department.
Letter of resignation from Harry Logan as City
Administrator, Superintendent of the'Street, Water, Sewer
Departments, Purchasing Agent, Building Inspector, Commander
of Civilian Defense, effective October 15, 1954 was read.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to accept the
resign~tion as re~uested and that he be granted a leave of
absense to October 15, 1954 with full pay.

Letter from the Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce re-
questing a study and consideration of constructing jetties off
Seal Beach to tie in with the east and west jet~ies to provide
quiet water for boat slips and moorings and to eliminate erosion,
was referred to the Beach Committee.
Resolution No. 848 ( A resolution establishing polling
places and pay schedule for polling place workers and rent for
.
polling places for the October 20, 1954 election) was present-
ed by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard and seconded
by Calvo to amend Section 2 to pay $12.00 for each worker and
$12.00 rent for each polling place.

adopt Resolution No~ 848 as amended.

Ordinance No.- 458 (Limited Parking) was presented
by the City Attorney'. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by
Flanagan that Ordinance No. 458 be deemed as having had its
second reading and be passed for adoption.

The C~erk stated he had made an appointment with
Mr. Kenneth Price for the Mayor on Friday, September 17,
1954 at 10:30 ,A.M-..- to dIscuss the garbage contract, which
met with the approval of the Mayor.
The City Clerk read his certificate of insufficiency
of names as presented on an initiative petition by W. L. Robert-
son, proponent.
The Clerk read a letter with check attached for
$1,000.00 from W. L. nobertson offering to pay the entire cost
of the SpeclalnElection, providing his proposed ordinance be
submitted to a vote of qualified electors of the City of Seal
Beach.' The letter and check were ordered received and filed.
It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Lawhead to
extend Police Captain James Marousek sick leave until Sept.
30, 1954, inclusive.

City
Councilman Calvo made a_ brief report relative to
the Senate Interim Committee on Oil and Gas Development on
State Lands, that he and Admiral John McKinney attended
recently in Santa Barbara. He stated that it was his belief
that the State would grant more permits for off-shore drill-
ing but that the information gained by the Committee would
be presented to the Legislature.
It was moved by Lawhead and seconded by Flanagan
that Roy Thomas be assigned Mr. Logan's duties for the
present time.
