The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: M~yor Clark Councilmen: Calvo, Flanagan, Leonard, Lawhead Absent: " " None I The Minutes ~f the regular Meeting of January 18th and the regular adjourned Meeting of January 25, 1955 were read and approved on the Mayor1s motion. ~etter and clipping from L.,L. Yaliton, Huntington Beach, relative to the Youth Center was received and filed. Letter frOM Frederic bessinger, 1619 Seal Way, relative to ownership of tidelands was received and filed. Reports of the Police, Building, ~ater and Tax DepartMents for the month of January, 1955.were presented. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by.Leonard to receive and file the City Officers reports. It was moved by ~eonard and seconded by Flanagan that the de- Mands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. It was announced that five of the thirteen local I organizations asked to SUbMit names for the Citizens Advisory Committee has responded. It was decided to give the groups more tiMe. The Clerk read a copy of House Resolution No. 49~ subMitted by Congressman James B. Utt, relative to Federal participation in the beach erosion problem. The Clerk read a letter from Jess D. Gilkerson, City Engineer, Long Beach, relative to the local Chamber of Commerce proposal to locate an outboard motor launching ramp nearer the City of Seal Beach. The letter gave the reasons for the plan- ning as proposed. In the matter of joining the COMmittee of Mayons I fllrther study is necessary. FrOM the City Engineer's Agenda dated Feb. 1, 1955 the following was discussed by iteM numbers; Item No.9. Street Resurfacing-Gas Tax Funds Plans are being prepared for Main Street, West Ocean Avenue, and the Fifth Street Extension. Item No. 10. Fifth Street Extension. The ranch super- Fifth Extension intendent and Real Estate Department have reCOMmended the project. Item No. 13. Standby Water Line. To change from 6 inch to 12 inch will cost approximately $7000.00. Reported that Co-ordinating Council would meet Feb. 14th to discuss Recreation Committee and other matters pertaining to the Youth Center. Sick Leave Ordinance. The Council set the date of Feb. lOth., 7:00 p.m. for informal meeting with City Employees Association for further dtsc~ssion. Item A. Clark None Motion carried. I , . Mr. Roy Thomas reported that the 1941 pick-up truck used by the Water Department was in need of repairs. After discussion it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to sell the 1941 truck and to put the truck used by the City Engineer into use in the Water Depart~ent.
