It was agreed to set up a prograM of protection
and care of tables used in the City Hall owned by the Senior
WOMens Club.
Mayor Clark expressed appreciation on behalf of
Mr. Calvo and himself for the vote of confidence given theM
in the recent recall election.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to
adjourn until March 22, 1955 at 7:30 p.M.

The City Council of the City or Seal Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7:30 p.m. with Mayor Clark presi-
ding. The meeting was oalled to order with the Pledge of
Allegiance.

Mayor Clark announced that this was the time and
place for hearing remarks or protests relative to vacating
a portion of Ocean Avenue.
City Attorney Buck read a portion of Resolution No.
868 announcing the intention to vacate and the afridavit or
posting. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Flanagan that
the City Clerk be directed to file the affidavit of posting.

City Engineer John Toups explained the Marina Project
by ptages. Stage 1, jetty extension. Stage 2, dredging, peri-
meter road, water line, bridge removal, and the depositing of
500,000 cubic yards of sand on our east beach. Stage 3, future
further dredging etc., north of Pacific Electric Railway.
J. W. B. Blackman and John Gutherie, Consulting
Engineers for the City of Long Beach on the Marina Project,
explained with maps, the rereuting of traffic over the peri-
meter road and future highways and roadways.
Mr. Danielson, Attorney, representing L. U. Bennett;
asked among other questions the amount of traffic using the
Ocean Aven].le bridge. Mr. Bennett stated that over a twenty] t. ..
hour count frOM March 9th thru March 19th that 7378 vehicles

had crossed the bridge. There followed questions and answers
by members of the City Council and the audience.
The City Attorney presented Resolution No. 874 (a
Reso.
resolution ordering vacation of a portion of Ocean Avenue).
It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Flanagan to adopt
Resolution No. 874.

Mr. Leonard stated before casting his vote that he
opposed the removal of the bridge but that Long Beach could
close their end of the bridge and that his opposition would
be of no avail.
Motion carried.
In reference to the removal and abandonment of
Richfield
011 Co.
certain Richfield Oil Co. pipelines, Hr. Toups recommended
that certain fees and a permit be requested. It was moved
by Lawhead and seconded by Leonard to grant the request,
subject to the recoMMendation of the City Engineer.
