The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
regular adjourned session at 7'30 p.m. with Mayor Pro-Tem Calvo
presiding. The meeting wa' called to order with the Pledge of
Allegiance.
It was moved by Lawhead and seconded by Flanagan
that the Ci~ Clerk enter into the minutes the results cast at
the eight voting precincts in the April 21, 1955 election, as
follows:

In the matter of the Hancock Oil Company pipeline
franchise and excavation permit, after discussion it was
decided to delay further action until April 28, 19S5.
Letter of appreciation from the Seal Beach Lions
Club for the use of the City Park for the annual Easter Egg
Hunt was received and filed.

Announcement of the Meeting of the Orange County
League of Cities, April 28th at Buena Park, was received
and filed.
Letter and enclosure relative to proposed oil
operations in the City from Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce
was received and filed.
The Clerk announced that he had been advised by the
.
City of Long Beach that new direct,tonal signs to the City
of Seal Beach would be installed in the westerly Belmont
Shore area within about two weeks.

In the matter of repairs for the HD5 tractor,
it was decided to wait until the Harris tractor was repaired
before starting on the HD5 tractor.
The Clerk read a letter from the Royal Insurance
Company stating coverage for liability in reference to the
Pacific Electric Railway right-of-way beautification prog-
ram. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead to
execute the lease as planned.

In regard to the employment of a City Engineer,
it was decided to wait until the adjourned meeting of
April 28th.

Before leRving, John Toups had reco~~ended that
Resolution No. 880 be recinded and a new one adopted show-
ing the breakdown on the resurfacing job. Mr. Calvo stated
he would contact Mr. Toups relative to the urgency of
Council action.
At this point Mr. Calvo called a ten minute recess.
After reconvening, it was moved by Leonard and

seconded by Flanagan to employ Hal Marron as City Engineer
at $650.00 per Month beginning May 9th.,1955.
