taM Calvo presiding. The meeting was called to order with
the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minut~s of the regular meeting of May 3rd. 1955
were read a nd appro,ved on the Mayor Pro-tem's Motion.
Letter from John Nescher, 148 Main Street, requesting
diagonal parking on Main Street. now that the resurfacing job
is done. After considerable discussion and hearing a letter
read frOM the State Highway Department relative to parallel
parking, it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan
that the City Engineer be instructed to plan and direct dia-
gonal parking for Main Street.

Relative to parking and parking lot space the Matter
of the sand-fill dredging project on the beach was discussed
at length. The City Engineer was instructed to work with the
contractors to attempt to get the first sand-fill in the area
of the Pier to build up space for the parking lot facilities.
Announcement of the regular meeting of the Orange
County League of Cities to be held jointly with the Los Angeles
County Division at Culver City, California, May 19, 1955 was,
received and filed. Hal Marron to attend.

AnnounceMent and invttation of the United Veterans
Council to attend Memorial Day services at the Park, May 30,
1955 at 11.00 a.m. was receivedand filed.
Letter of req1lest of the Seal Beach Lions Club to
erect two fireworks stands. It was moved by Lawhead and
seconded by Flanagan to grant the request and to waive the
license fee.

The City Clerk read a copy of a letter addressed
to the Long Beach Motor Bus Company ordering the re-estab-
lishment of the through service to the City. The Clerk re-
ported that he had contacted the bus company and that through
service would start May 22, 1955, with about thirty-six Minute
he!1dways.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan to
instruct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance regulating
the parking of trucks on Main Street.

Electric Avenue Pavin~ - requested aMended resolution
for County Gas Tax Funds.
Buildinp: Code - On approval of the Planning Comm-
ission it was requested to grant a building variance to
Frederic Bessinger, 1619 Seal Way, for a car-port. The Engineer I
explained that this was a hardship case since the lot is only
six feet vide on the alley. It ~as Moved by Lawhead and seconded
by. Leonard to approve the request of the Pl~nning Commission.

being laid on the beach and that dred~ing operations should

on this date and that the agreement with the School District had

to defer entering into a maintalnance agreement pending sub-
division activities for the present time.
Tree Removal- It was moved by Leonard and seconded
by Flanaga~ to set up the f~llowing price schedule for tree
reMoval; Fifteen Dollars ($15.00) if deemed necessary by the
City Engineer, and the actual cost of labor and material if
