Seal Beach, California August 9, 1955 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 p.m. with Mayor Pro-Tem Calvo presiding. The Meeting was called to order wlth~the Pledge of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Pro-tern Calvo . Councilmen: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan 1 Absent: II " Clark Letter of recommendation from the Seal Beach Planning COMMission for a change of zoning from Cl to C2 to permit Owen Creger Marine Supply Company to operate in the Trailer Park Plan. area. Fire report for fiscal year 1954-55 by w. S. Knighton, Fire Dept. 1 Fire Chief, was received and filed. Announcement of the next regular meeting of the Orange County League of Cities, Newport Beach, Thursday August 25th, was recei~ed and filed. Or. Co, League Letter from N. L. After considerable discussion i~ was moved by Flana~an and seconded by Lawhead to grant the request subject to a bond of $5000.00 and to route over First Street, Bolsa Avenue, Coast Highway to Bay Boulevard and north. Ordinance l.Jo. 478 (AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH FIXING AND DETERMINING THE TOTAL VALUATION OF THE TAX- ABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF SEAL BEACH, FIXING AND DETER- MINING THE RATE OF TAXES FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES, AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AND INTEREST OF THE, CITY OF SEAL BEACH FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1955-56) was presented by title by the City Attorney. Engineer's ARenda Insurance In the matter of distribution of commissions of the Ltability Insurance, it was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead that only those agents bidding on the policy be per- mitted to share in the commissions. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhe~d that the property damage on the Liability Policy be increased to $20,000. CrossinF, Guards The Engineer reported that the State Highway Patrol would not furntsh crossing-guards at Coast Hwy. and Bay Blvd. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead that the Police Department furnish a guard and that manually operated signals at this crossing b~ installed. had been placed in the necessary crossings. Fifth Street Extension. On request Mr. Marron told the history of the project and the situation 'to date. Mr. Lawhead inquired about JaMes Snells' position with the City upon his return after his illness. The City Eng- ineer explained his case in detail and stated that upon his return to the job he would do his work as in the past, except for heavy duty work.
