Seal Beach, California SepteMber 20, 1955 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach Met in 'regular session at 7:30 p.M. with Mayor Clark presiding. The M~eting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Present; Mayor Clark Councilmen' Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo The minutes of the regular meeting of September 6, 1955 were read and approved on the Mayor's motion. Mayor Clark announced that this was the time for a public hearing as announced upon the adoption ot Ordinance No. 479 (Uniform BUilding Code). There being no protests, Ordinance No. 479 was read by title by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard, seconded by Calvo to waive the reading of Ordinance No. 479. The ,City Attorney stated that it was necessary to ohange ~ the boundary lines in the propo~ed ~nnexation and that he had pre~ pared a correc~d Resolution for.th~ purpose. After oonsiderable discussion it was decided to withhold further action until the I City Engineer and City Attorney could make further investigations. Letter and polioy statement with respect to 'unitization, repressuring and beach protection from the Long Beach Chamber of Commeroe was' referred to the Oil Committees of the Seal Beach Chamber of Comm~rce. After reading a letter from Gov. Goodwin J. Knight relative to "Safe Driving Dat', December 1, 1955, Mayor Clark appointed Chief' Lee Howard as liS_I> D~y" Director. . - Letter from Mr. and Mrs. Bessinger. 1619 Seal Way in regard to beach cleaning was received and filed. Reports of the City Treasurer and C~ty Clerk for the month of August, 1955 were presented. It was moved by Calvo and seoonded by Flanagan to receive and file ,the City Officers I reports. Mr. Marron announced that the Associated Chambers of Commerce of Orange Oo~nty would meet Tuesday night, Sept. 27th at Sam's Seafood Spa. Civil Defense Tests Beginning September 30th at 11.00 a.m. Civil Defense warning 'sirens will be tested on several sucoessive Fridays. Mr. Leonard suggested that a separate water fund be set up to take oare of surplus funds derived from the water rate inorease~ ' After some discussion it was decided to confer with the City Auditor. Norman Kellogg addressed the Counoil and offered to demonstrate at no charge to the City a certain type'of street line striping and glitter. He asked for a location to test I . against fog eto. Reeves requested that the City reoommend to the Post Office that the post box at Ocean and Main be moved to the west side of Main to better facilitate dropping mail in the box and to then turn north onto Main Street.
