The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in
reguler adjournedression at 7:30 p.m. with Mayor Pro-tam Paul
Calvo presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge

of Allegiance.

Letter from the Seal Beach Woman's Club requesting a
donation of the furniture from the City Hall apartment, the sale
of which would. be used for the yearly Cancer and Polio Drives.
It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead that all furniture
that cannot be used by the City, be donated to the Woman's Club.

Letters of application for taxi-cab permits from John
C. Dwyer, Paul C. Tillman, Howard L. Thompson and John A. Kowatch
were referred to the City Attorney.
Letter of protest from the Bryant Estate relative to the
annexation was received and filed.

Lot were received and filed. The Council decided to abandon the
project.

Letter of protest from. Frederic Bessinger relative to
the plans to construct a two story resldence next to his home
was referred to the City Engineer and Building Department for
a recheck.
Copy of a letter from Monterey Oil Co., addressed to

the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce regarding unitization, re-
pressuring and beach protection was receivedand filed.

x copy of a resolution of protest addressed to the
Orange County Board of Supervlsors relative to the proposed
Forty Two Million Dollar Bond Issue for the Orange County Flood
Control Distriot was referred to the City Engineer.
Notice of change of meeting place in the matter of
the application of Long Beach Motor Bus Co., requesting auth-
ority to increase certain of it's rates of fare to Veteran's
Memorial Hall, Long Beach, Nov. 2,1955 WaS received 'and filed.
Order permltting Long Beach Motor Bus Co., to re-
route portions of its line affecting this City as of October 24,
1955 was received and filed.
Resolution No. 905 (Annexation-Oran~ County Boundary
Commission) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved
by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan to adopt Resolution No. 905.

Mr..Lawhead suggested that.the salary of Grace Irvine
be Increased now t hat she is not using the Cl ty Hall apartment.
After some discussion it was moved by Lawhead and seconded by
Leonard that Grace Irvine's salary be increased to equal that
of Other office clerks.

Mr. Marron reported that the Auditor had told him that
separate funds for the Water Department and insuranoe could be
set up by minute order. After considerable' discussion no action

was taken.

Mr. Leonard asked about the throughness of the Garbage
and Trash contractor. Mr. Marron stated that the overall picture
was good but that public education was necessary and that he was
preparing a bulletin to be distributed to every home.
