The meet- ing was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. Re~. Guy Newton, First Baptist Church gave the 1nvocation. Present: Mayor Clark Co,uncilmen: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo Absent: None The minutes of the regular meeting of January 3, 1956 and the Special Meetings of January 6th and Janua~y 9th, 1956 were read and a pproved on the Mayor's motion. Announcement of the Eighth Annual California Recreation Conference, San Diego, California, February 12th to 15th, 1956 was received and filed. State Recrea tion Request of the Orange County Society for Crippled Child- Or. Co ren to sell paper lapel Easter L11ies on the streets of the City, march 23rd and 24th, 1956. Notice of hearing before the Public Utilities Commiss- ion of the application of the Southern'California Edison Company for aut~ority to alter, amend and revise its existing Rules and Regulations was referred to the City Engineer. Bch. erose Reports of the Police Department and City Clerk for the month of December, 1955 were presented. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Leonard to receive and file the City Officers reports. AYES: NOES: , Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Qalvo, Clark None Motion carried. Demands numbering 3098 to 3151 inclusive totaling $8,442.89 as approved by the Finance Committee, were presented. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the same. Sales The City Engineer reported th~t the Orange County Bound- ary Commission had found that the boundaries of the proposed annex- ation under" Resolution No. 914 are reasonably derinite and certain. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Lawhead to accept the report of the City Engineer. AYES: NOES: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo, Clark None Mo'tion carried'. The City Engineer also reported that the records show that the territory proposed to be annexed under Resolution No. I t~. , 914 was contiguous'to the City of Seal Beach, and no part was incorporated. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Lawhead to accept the report ,of the City Engineer. AYES: NOES: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo, Clark None Motion carried. The City Clerk reported that he had prepared his certi- fication, and had received the Orange County Clerk's Certification show that the records/that there were less than twelve (12) registered voters in the area proposed to be annexed under Resolution No. 914. Resolution No. 915 (Intention to annex) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to adopt Resolution No. 915. City Engineers Agenda , Street Lights. - The City Engineer>:ecoMmendation to in- stall street lights in the alley north of Seal Way at 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th Streets was approved. Sick Leave, Capt. James Marousek - It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Calvo to extend Capt. Marousek's sick leave until Feb. 1, 1956. Parki~ Lot, West Beach - Mr. Marron reported that the pr~l1minary work was completed and that the material used had been at no cost to the City. . , Orange Gounty Municipal Water District - Mr. Marron reported on a recent R;solution of the Orange County Munteipal Water District, urgeing the Directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to avail itself of the provisions of the recent~ammendment to the Metropolitan Water District Act. Anti-Rabies Clinic - Mr. Marron reported that 135 dogs were vaccinated on January 16, 1956 in the clinic here, and that the Veternarian would return on January 26, 1956 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Mayor Clark inquired about the 5th Street EKtension Project. It was reported that the property deed had not been reOeived from the Hellman interests. The City Attorney was in- structed to communicate with them. Mr. Clark also inquired about the sub-division. The City Clerk reported that there were now. ten producing wells on the Island, and that the income was averaging better than $650.00 per month. , Mr. flanagan suggested that the two hour parking limit signs on Main Street be removed if the time limit was not being enforced. It was decided that they be left intact in case the parking prOblem became such as to cause enforcement. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead to adjourn.
