The City Countil of the City of Seal Beach met in regular adjourned session at 7:30 p.m. with Mayor Pro-Tem Calvo presiding. The meeting was called to order with the predge: of Allegiance. Present: Mayor Pro-Tem Calvo Councilmen: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan Absent: II II Clark Annex. City Attorney Robert Buck, read a letter dated February 26, 1956, from R. H. Fogler, Assistant Secretary of the Navy ~Mater1al) in which he stated that the Department of the Navy will file no protest to the annexation of that portion to the Naval Ammunition and Net Depot covered by Resolution I No. 915. It was moved by Lawhead and seoonded by Flanagan to receive and flle the letter from the Assistant Secretary of the Navy. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Lawhead, . None Clark Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo . Motfon carried. Annex. Mr. Buck read a letter from the Hancock Oil Company, dated September 14, 1955, signed by John W. Hancock, President, ,-"""", ,(}tII"'6,..~-rI';"'" requesting that the City eliminate^all lands lying south of Bolsa Avenue. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead that . the' City Council f,inds and determines this letter not to be a legal protest and be receivedand filed. I AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ,Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo None Clark Motion carried. Mr. Buck read a letter from the Estate of Susanna Annex. ., Bixby Bryant, dated October 3, 1955, signed by ~nest A. Bryant, J~. and Allen L. Chickering, annexation. It was moved by Leonard Trustees~ protesting the secondea ana/by Lawhead that the City Council finds and determines that this letter is not a legal, protest and be received a nd r 11ed. I Ordinance No. 488 (An Ordinance of the City of Seal Beaah approving the annexation to the City of Seal Beach of the territory known and designated as "Hellman-Naval Depot Annexa- tion"), was read in full by the City Attorney. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Flanagan that Ordinance No. 488 be deemed as having had its second and final reading and be passed for adoption. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo None Clark l\!otion aarried. I Mr. Lawhead asked about tha price of the pumps and motors to be installed at Bay and Electric. Mr. Marron stated that the pumps would run from approximately $650.00 to $700.00 each and the motors would be approximately $450.00 each. Mr. Lawhead asked if the pumps at the two unused water wells could be used. Mr. Marron ~eported that it was possible that the two wells would be reactivated now that the water table was up. The Clerk read a letter from the League of Califor- nia Cities urgeing that the cities request their congressman to ask for immediate hearings on pending payment in Lieu Taxes on certain federally owned properties within the cities. It was moved by Leonard and seconded by Lawhead to instruct the City Clerk to send such a request to our Congressman urgeing immediate action. The Clerk read a letter and notice from the State Lands Commission relative to an oil and gas lease offer in Orange County. The City Engineer was instructed to prepare a map showing the relation of the proposed lease to the City. It was moved by Flanagan and seconded by Lawhead to adjourn. " " , . Reports of the Police, Building, License, Water and Tax Departments for the month of February 1956 were presented. It was moved by Calvo and seconded by Leonard that the City Officers reports be received and filed. AYES: NOES: Lawhead, Leonard, Flanagan, Calvo, Clark None Motion carried. Demands numbering 3305 to 3396 inclusive, totaling $8837.14 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Lawhead and seconded by Flan~gan that the demands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for the ,I' same.
