HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC Min 1956-07-03 Seal Beach, Calirornia I July 3, 1950 The City Council of the City of Seal Beach met in regular session at 8:15 p.m. with Mayor Calvo presiding. The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting was late in starting as the City Council had been sitting as a Board of Equalization in assessment matters. Present, Mayor Calvo Councilmen: Tancre, Ross, Spencer Absent. " " Flanagan 2G5 This being the time and place set for a public hearing regarding weed abatement, there being no protests oral or written, Reso. Resolution No. 932 (Weed Abatement) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Tancre and seconded by Ross to adopt Resolution No. 932. AYES: NOES I ABSENT I Tancre, Ross, None Flanae;an Motion carried. SpenceX', Calvo I Ordinance No. 494 (Salary Pay-Plan) was presented by the City Attorney. It was moved by Ross and seconded by Spencer that Ordinance No. 494 be deemed as having had its first reading and be passed to the second reading. Mr. Buck reported that the deed for all of the prop- erty for the Fl1'th Street Extension had been received and that condemnation proceedings would,not be necessary. The City Attorney stated that in his opinion provisions of Sec..C-l, Ordinance No. 400 would allow an auto parts business in the business district. I In the matter of oil drilling on the water property, the City Attorney reported that Hellman interests might declare reversonary rights to the property. He was instructed by the Council to take the necessary action. The Bond of the Subdivider was discussed and a rurther report will be made by the City Attorney after studying the Agreements and Bonds for the three tracts. Letter of the Seal Beach Fire Department reporting the reeLection of Sperry Knighton as Fire Chief was received and filed. It was moved by Spencer and seconded by Tancre to confirm the appo~ntment of'Sperry Knighton as Fire Chief. AYES. NOES . ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spenaer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carrled. The letter 1~om the Fire Department also oontalned the 1950-57 Budget estlmate which was referred to the budget meeting. An additional letter rrom the Flre Department stating reasons ror certaln increases ln the budget was referred to the I Budget meeting. , AnnounceMent of the Annual Conference, League of CalU'ornla Cities, Los Angeles, October 2tltn through 31st, lY56, was recelyed and rUed. Demands numberlng 3Y55 to ~u44 inclusive, totaling $9,4b6.68 as approved by the Finance Committee were presented. It was moved by Spenoer and seconded by Ross that the deMands be allowed and warrants drawn on the Treasury for th~ same. AYES: NOES : ABSENT: Tancre, Ross, Spenoer, Calvo None Flanagan Motion carried. Mr. Ross requested action on Electric Avenue relative to dust and parking of trucks. To be studied anq d~scu~sed I later. Mr. Ross suggested that something should be done relative to delinquent payments under the 1955 apartMent house . . 110ense. This matter was referred to the City Attorney. Mr. Ross also suggested that an ordinance prohibit- - ing the parking of large trucks in residential areas be prepared.
